The camera design of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra has become the subject of fresh speculation after new details from leakers appeared to conflict with early third-party case leaks.

Steve “OnLeaks” Hemmerstoffer has shared an updated render of the Galaxy S27 Ultra, describing it as the most up-to-date and accurate look at the phone’s rear camera configuration. The render shows a pill-shaped secondary camera enclosure with several elements arranged vertically.

According to the render, the telephoto lens sits at the top of the enclosure. Below it is a microphone cutout, followed by auxiliary sensors associated with the Laser AutoFocus system. The LED flash is positioned at the bottom.

The tiny microphone opening has become an important part of the latest leak because early third-party cases appeared to miss it entirely.

Early Cases Created Questions About Laser AutoFocus

The confusion started after Ice Universe examined four different third-party Galaxy S27 Ultra case designs circulating through Chinese supply chains.

The earlier case versions did not appear to have dedicated openings for some of the secondary components around the camera area. This led to speculation that Samsung might have removed the Laser AutoFocus sensor from the upcoming flagship.

Later case designs appeared to place the telephoto lens at the top of the oval-shaped camera area, with another opening underneath it. However, the lack of clearly defined cutouts for the remaining hardware left the exact arrangement uncertain.

OnLeaks’ latest render now shows the auxiliary sensors within the secondary module, suggesting that the absence of obvious case cutouts did not necessarily mean the hardware had been removed.

The Missing Microphone Is Now Part of the Mystery

One of the more specific details in the latest render is the microphone positioned between the telephoto camera and the auxiliary sensors.

OnLeaks points out that third-party case makers appear to have missed this microphone opening in their early molds.

That could help explain why the leaked cases did not provide a clear picture of the hardware arrangement. Case manufacturers working from incomplete information may use larger openings or leave out smaller cutouts altogether.

It also highlights one of the limitations of using CAD renders and leaked accessories to determine the exact placement of individual components.

Ice Universe And OnLeaks Disagree On The Layout

The mystery has not completely disappeared.

After OnLeaks shared the updated render, Ice Universe disputed the positioning of the camera and flash. Ice Universe claimed that the camera sits toward the bottom while the flash is positioned above it.

This creates a direct disagreement between two prominent sources covering the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s design.

Part of the confusion may come from the way individual components appear in renders. A CAD image can show openings or recessed areas without making it immediately obvious which opening belongs to a camera, flash, microphone or another sensor.

That becomes particularly difficult when components sit flush with the phone’s body.

What The Latest Render Actually Shows

The latest OnLeaks render provides a clearer picture of the proposed camera island, but it does not completely settle every detail surrounding the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

The visible arrangement places the telephoto lens at the top of the pill-shaped enclosure, followed by the microphone, auxiliary sensors and LED flash.

The disagreement with Ice Universe means the precise positioning of some elements remains contested.

For now, the biggest takeaway from the latest round of leaks is that the absence of small openings on early cases should not automatically be interpreted as proof that Samsung has removed a particular sensor.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra has already appeared in CAD renders that offered a broader look at its design. The latest leak narrows the focus to the camera island, where even a small microphone cutout has become significant in piecing together Samsung’s upcoming flagship.
