Enterprise AI startup Ema has raised $77 million in a Series B funding round led by investment firm Creaegis, giving the company fresh capital to expand its go-to-market operations and continue developing its enterprise AI platform.

Existing investors Accel, S32 and Prosus also increased their investments in the latest round. With the new funding, Ema’s total capital raised has reached $140 million. The financing has also pushed the company’s valuation to more than four times the level seen in its previous round.

The round comes after Ema had been in discussions to raise roughly $80 million from Creaegis and existing backers at a valuation of around $800 million.

Ema is building AI workers for enterprise teams

Founded in 2023 by Surojit Chatterjee, a former chief product officer at Coinbase, and Souvik Sen, Ema is building what it describes as “AI Employees” for businesses.

Rather than focusing on a single department, the company’s technology is designed for enterprise functions including human resources, IT and finance.

Ema’s platform allows organisations to deploy AI agents capable of planning and carrying out workflows across the applications and systems companies already use.

That positioning places the startup around a growing enterprise use case for artificial intelligence: moving AI beyond standalone assistance and into workflows where software agents can perform tasks spanning multiple business systems.

Fresh capital to go into sales expansion and the AI platform

Ema plans to use the latest funding for two primary areas: expanding its go-to-market organisation and continuing investment in its enterprise AI platform.

The company has already brought in multiple senior leaders as it prepares to scale its commercial operations, indicating that a significant part of the next phase will be focused on taking its technology to a wider enterprise customer base.

The $77 million round also brings Ema substantially closer to the amount that had been under discussion earlier, while giving the three-year-old startup considerably more financial room to build both its technology and market-facing teams.

For Ema, the next stage is therefore not simply about raising more capital. The company is preparing to turn its AI-agent technology into a broader enterprise offering, with HR, IT and finance among the functions at the centre of that push.
