Amazon October Prime Day 2026: Amazon’s October Prime Day sale is already producing substantial price cuts across electronics, smart-home devices, appliances and everyday essentials, with several prominent products dropping to prices that multiple shopping publications rank among their strongest offers of the year.

Among the most consistent early discounts is Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 at $179, down $70 from a listed price of $249. CNN Underscored described the reduction as the model’s lowest price since June, while ZDNET said the earbuds were only $10 above their previous record low.

The intersection among the independent deal lists is important for the consumers who want to be able to separate discounts from regular promotions.

Amazon’s Smart Plug is available for $13, a discount highlighted by both CNN Underscored and ZDNET, while the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition has fallen to roughly $170, according to NBC Select and ZDNET.

The early promotions arrive as Amazon prepares for its fall Prime Big Deal Days event, widely referred to as October Prime Day.

Apple, Kindle and Amazon devices lead early tech discounts

Apple hardware accounts for several of the more notable reductions identified ahead of the sale.

CNN Underscored listed the 13-inch MacBook Air with M5 chip at $1,099, down $200 from $1,299, describing it as the first $200 reduction on the machine since June.

The same publication reported Apple’s second-generation AirTag at $24, down from $29, while Amazon’s Smart Plug was nearly half price at $13.

Amazon’s own hardware is also receiving sizeable cuts. NBC Select listed the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 32GB at $169.99, compared with a stated regular price of $249.99. ZDNET independently reported essentially the same $170 sale price and noted an important qualification: the Kindle had previously fallen as low as $145 during June Prime Day.

That comparison illustrates why the percentage discount alone does not establish whether a Prime Day offer is a record bargain. A product can be heavily discounted from its list price while still having sold for less during an earlier promotion.

Other Amazon-device offers tracked by ZDNET include the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus at $38, a $32 reduction that the publication calculated at 43% off.

Discounts extend well beyond electronics

October Prime Day promotions are spanning home appliances, kitchen equipment, personal care products and household goods rather than being confined to Amazon devices or consumer technology.

CNN Underscored reported the Dyson V8 cordless vacuum at $270, down from $390, and said the $120 reduction matched its lowest price of the year at the time of publication.

ZDNET, meanwhile, highlighted the higher-end Dyson V15 Detect at $590, compared with a listed original price of $840.

NBC Select’s early selections ranged from the Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum at $129.99, down from $179.99, to the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and discounted household products. The publication said it screened its picks for products that were at least 20% off, had a minimum four-star Amazon rating from hundreds of reviews and were at their lowest price in at least three months.

Its wider sale tracking also showed discounts of up to 80% on selected Beats products, up to 50% on Samsung technology, up to 37% on Dyson vacuums and air purifiers, and up to 50% on De’Longhi coffee and espresso products. Those figures apply to selected merchandise rather than every item sold by each brand.

A strong discount does not always mean a record-low price

The early October sale highlights a familiar problem for shoppers: list-price comparisons can make a deal appear more compelling than its actual pricing history suggests.

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is one example. Its roughly $170 price represents an $80 reduction from the stated $250 price, but ZDNET noted that the device had reached $145 during June Prime Day. The AirPods Pro 3 offer at $179 is similarly close to, rather than at, the lowest price ZDNET had previously recorded.

Consumers comparing October Prime Day deals may therefore benefit from looking beyond the headline percentage and checking recent price history, particularly on frequently discounted electronics.

Prices and availability can also change quickly during major Amazon sales, and some discounts may be restricted to Prime members, particular configurations, colours or inventory levels.
