Sustainable packaging company Econovus Packaging has raised Rs 40 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter by Zerodha, with participation from Rockstud Capital.
Econovus: Rainmatter Backs Sustainable Packaging Expansion
The company said the fresh capital will be used to expand its sustainable packaging solutions across high-growth industrial sectors, including automotive, lithium-ion batteries, solar infrastructure, steel, defence, and broader industrial supply chains.
Founded in January 2019 by Ramesh Prasad, Econovus Packaging works on customised end-to-end packaging solutions for businesses. Its approach combines engineered materials, IP-backed packaging design, space optimisation, and design-to-cost methods to help customers bring down packaging-related carbon footprint as well as total cost of ownership.
The company’s product portfolio includes UN-certified lithium-ion battery packaging, heavy-duty packaging, returnable and expendable packaging, and automotive packaging formats. Econovus says its solutions are built for sectors where packaging is not just about protection, but also about logistics efficiency, space use, safety, and sustainability.
The funding comes at a time when industrial supply chains in India are becoming more complex and export-oriented. The company cited Government of India data stating that engineering exports touched a record $122.43 billion, making the sector the largest contributor to India’s merchandise exports with a share of nearly 28%.
With cross-border industrial movement expanding, the demand for packaging that is durable, internationally compliant, cost-efficient, and lower in environmental impact is expected to grow. Econovus is positioning itself around that shift, especially in sectors where products are heavy, high-value, sensitive, or regulated.
The company also said its packaging solutions help reduce logistics costs, improve container utilisation, and lower the footprint of supply chains across automotive, electronics, clean energy, industrial goods, and electrical equipment sectors.
For Rainmatter and Rockstud Capital, the investment places Econovus in a space where manufacturing, exports, sustainability, and supply-chain efficiency meet. For Econovus, the round gives it capital to move deeper into industrial categories where specialised packaging can directly affect cost, compliance, and carbon outcomes.
