Chennai-based deep-tech startup Tan90 Thermal Solutions is revolutionizing the cold chain logistics sector with its innovative, energy-efficient cooling technologies. Founded in 2019 by IIT alumni Soumalya Mukherjee, Rajnikant Rai, and Shiv Sharma, Tan90 focuses on sustainable thermal energy management using proprietary Phase Change Materials (PCMs) and a unique service model known as Cooling as a Service (CaaS).

Tan90’s advanced PCMs work well in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, food, and agriculture. They are designed to work within certain temperature ranges.Their CaaS technology offers on-demand, scalable cooling solutions without the large upfront expenditures associated with conventional refrigeration systems.
“Cooling infrastructure must be on-demand, scalable, and sustainable, without relying on heavy capital investments or outdated systems,” said Soumalya Mukherjee, Co-founder of Tan90.
Recent Funding and Expansion Plans
In May 2025, Tan90 raised ₹20 crore, which is about $2.3 million, in a Series A funding round. NABVENTURES, the venture capital branch of NABARD, led this round. Existing investors Blue Ashva Capital, Capital-A, and 3i Partners also participated.
The fresh capital will be utilized to:
- Develop new product lines tailored for cold chains, HVAC systems, and data centers.
- Expand Tan90’s reach across India and into important global markets like Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
These strategic moves aim to position India as a center for innovative thermal management and create globally relevant cooling ecosystems.
Impressive Growth Trajectory
Over the past three years, Tan90 has seen phenomenal success, with revenues increasing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 70%. At the moment, its CaaS platform has zero client churn and is accessible in eight Indian locations. The company has proven its capacity to offer organisations in fast commerce, healthcare, and food logistics climate-resilient and scalable cooling systems.
