“Imagine our planet ten times better, cleaner, fairer and better than what we have today. I made sustainability my default choice since 2016, its time you do too.”
These golden words were spoken by Anirudh Gupta, the founder and owner of Climes, a startup helping businesses measure and neutralize their carbon footprint. It was in 2016 he got climate curious and started adopting sustainable practices into his immediate ecosystem. Thus began a journey of inhouse composting, rainwater harvesting and installation of solar panels.

But Anirudh didn’t stop there. He went one step further by establishing a business that made sure climate action was not restricted to his home. Alongside co-founder Siddhant Jayaram Climes was founded in 2021. It is a Delhi based climate tech startup that provides stakeholders from across industries an innovative way to finance carbon projects.
After completing his graduation from University of California, Berkley, in political economy, Gupta initially worked at Airbus. Jayaram too was working in corporate with Toyota, after having completed his degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University. But the two decided to leave their conventional jobs and team up for the greater good of this planet.
Climes: Redefining CSR For Businesses
With brands like Hero, Airbus, Zingbus and Audi in their basket, Climes is on a path to redefine Corporate Social Responsibility for businesses. With innovative business tools like Climes API and Climes LITE that the startup offers, businesses can help their customers enjoy a carbon footprint free purchase and get rewards for climate-friendly behaviour.
The aim is to rapidly expand the flow of capital into climate projects worldwide. It definitely is the need of the hour and the sooner we understand it, the better. With Climes, there is a special focus on the community generating an impact across ecosystems, economies and societies. It does not only offer solutions to businesses put also provides a platform for the audience to become more climatically aware through its Climes Times Blog and The Voice of Gen C podcast. This initiative also puts a spotlight on the climate heroes out there who sometimes go unrecognized and unnoticed.
Going forward, Climes plans to expand its market base to the UAE and the US. It is hoping to raise another round of external funding in the next six months. It also plans to launch a series of tailored products specifically targeted to ensure more enterprises engage in climate action.
With startups like Climes it is safe to say that there still exists a hope for tomorrow. As educated and aware citizens of this nation, it is our duty and responsibility to propagate the growth, expansion and success of such ventures in the society.
It is when we as consumers prefer a climate friendly brand or refuse to buy from one that does not follow environmental protocols that a better step for our planet is taken in the right direction. It then urges businesses to collaborate with companies like Climes not only to increase their customer base but also to ensure consistent success.
