Creators who want Claude AI to handle the repetitive parts of Instagram and YouTube work now have a growing shelf of free skills on GitHub. They cover captions, carousels, Reels scripts, silence cutting, highlight clipping and YouTube publishing. None of them guarantees growth, and most help draft and plan rather than post on a creator’s behalf.

Skills are reusable instruction files that tell Claude how to do a task a specific way. Spilno Agency describes Agent Skills as an open standard Anthropic introduced in autumn 2025, and says they run in Claude Code and are also supported on claude.ai. The supply has exploded. Tella’s roundup of the best Claude Code skills says there are thousands on GitHub, and that most are thin wrappers or abandoned experiments. That makes curation the real problem for creators.

Where to start?

The reference point is Anthropic’s own repository. Tella says the official skills repository has around 166,000 stars and includes the document skills for Word, PDF, PowerPoint and Excel, plus a skill-creator that helps people write their own. For Instagram

The broadest collection is the Social Media Skills repository. Its README says one command installs all 106 skills for Claude Code: npx skills add social-media-skills/skills -g -a claude-code -s ‘*’ -y.

This includes a range of processes from creating brand profile, voice, and audience to developing content pillars, content calendar, batch content production, and content re-purposement.

A smaller option is the marketingskills collection by Corey Haines. Spilno says its social skill covers Instagram feed content, Reels scripts, carousel layouts, captions and a content calendar.

CreatorFlow’s guide also lists an Instagram carousel skill, installed with npx skills add jeevanbavandla/instagram-carousel-skill.

The same guide describes a full-lifecycle Instagram engine with 13 sub-skills for hooks, reels, stories, carousels, captions, performance analysis, competitor research and editorial calendars.

CreatorFlow says the marketingskills collection, the carousel skill and the claude-ig engine are free and open source under the MIT license.

For captions, one repository stands out for its provenance. Its author says it is the skill he uses to caption every post on @theromanknox, an account with more than 300,000 followers. It produces versions for Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook and YouTube Shorts, with Reels captions tuned for DM shares and carousel captions built for saves.

The follower count and usage claim come from the author and were not independently checked.

Creators who run paid promotion have another route. Spilno lists AgriciDaniel’s claude-ads, which it says has more than 7,000 stars, as an Instagram ads audit tool that treats Facebook and Instagram together under Meta.

For YouTube

The strongest YouTube tools sit on the editing and publishing side. Tella highlights video skills that cut silences, clip highlights and publish to YouTube. Cut Video and Clipify, both from Louise de Sadeleer, install by cloning into the Claude skills folder.

Tella’s list also includes a Remotion video skill from wshuyi. Link: https://github.com/wshuyi/remotion-video-skill. Tom Granot’s Tella to YouTube plugin takes a recording through to a published video, and installs with /plugin marketplace add TomGranot/tella-to-youtube followed by /plugin install tella-to-youtube@tella-skills.

Link: https://github.com/TomGranot/tella-to-youtube. Tella sells a video product, so its list carries a commercial interest.

The ClaudSkills registry, which says it holds more than 183,000 SKILL.md files, also lists Tube Cog, a YouTube content skill powered by CellCog. Link: https://claudskills.com/skills/tube-cog/.

A separate media toolkit from deapi-ai covers image generation with Flux, text-to-speech, YouTube and audio transcription, video generation, upscaling and background removal. Link: https://github.com/deapi-ai/claude-code-skills

Research and visuals

A May 2026 community guide from Bóveda Cinco names last30days, a skill that gathers what people have said about a topic on Reddit, X, YouTube, Hacker News and GitHub over the previous 30 days.

The guide also lists Claude Banana for generating images with Nano Banana and Claude Video Vision. Links: Claude Banana, https://github.com/Hainrixz/claude-banana and Claude Video Vision, https://github.com/jordanrendric/claude-video-vision

Scheduling and posting

Most of these skills stop at drafting. CreatorFlow says most skills plan and draft content rather than publish it. Blotato, a social posting tool, offers a workaround with a set of skills for a content coach, brand brief, post writer, post grader and post scheduler.

It says the scheduler is the step that connects to its service so posts actually go out.

How to install

The method depends on where Claude runs. Blotato’s instructions say Claude Code and Claude Desktop users copy skill folders into ~/.claude/skills/ for every project, or .claude/skills/ for one project, then restart.

On claude.ai and Claude Cowork, skills are uploaded one at a time under Customize, then Skills, then Add, by dragging in a single SKILL.md. The Social Media Skills README likewise says custom skills work on every Claude plan. Intempt notes that skills load at startup, so a session that is already running will not see new ones.

Because many repositories are untested and some are abandoned, creators should read a skill’s files before placing them in their skills folder. They should also test any promise of faster growth against their own analytics.

The advantages for creators, in practical terms, would be that the production of content is often a combination of researching, writing, editing, adding captions, and posting, without necessarily having an entire team behind the content.

A YouTuber may use one skill to pinpoint the important moments from an hours-long video and a second skill to create the descriptions needed for the Shorts videos, while an Instagram creator may take one concept and create a Reel script and caption combinations for the post.
