New Delhi-based Primebook, a rising EdTech hardware startup, has secured $2 million in a pre-Series A round, comprising a mix of equity and debt funding. The round was led by Inflection Point Ventures, with participation from Auxano Capital, NexG Devices, and key angel investors such as Rikant Pittie, co-founder of EaseMyTrip, and fintech executive Bhavesh Gupta.
The funds will be used to scale product innovation, brand development, and business expansion across India and new international markets.
From Shark Tank to Startup Success
Founded in 2018 by IIT Delhi graduates Aman Verma and Chitranshu Mahant, Primebook rose to national prominence after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 2. On the show, they secured ₹75 lakh from boAt’s Aman Gupta and Lenskart’s Peyush Bansal for a 3% equity share, valuing the company at ₹25 crore.
Before this, Primebook raised $1 million in seed funding from Kundan Group, Brindavan Group, and Infotel Business Solution.

How Primebook Stands Out in the Market
- Focused Product Positioning: Unlike traditional brands (e.g., HP, Lenovo), Primebook caters exclusively to students, optimizing its OS and hardware for learning environments.
- Affordability with Functionality: By offering a complete laptop experience under ₹15,000, Primebook competes directly with entry-level smartphones and tablets, but with added benefits like keyboards, multitasking, and offline learning support.
- Localized Educational Impact: The brand is working closely with NGOs and schools, and over 50,000 units have been distributed, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions.
- Market Penetration in Budget Segment: According to industry estimates, the under ₹20,000 laptop market in India is underserved and growing, especially post-pandemic. Primebook claims to have captured 5% of this niche.
- Scalable Business Model: Beyond B2C, Primebook’s B2B partnerships (with edtech platforms and state governments) provide scalable revenue streams and long-term sustainability.
Future Roadmap: Product Launches and Global Expansion
Primebook plans to release three new models in April 2025, including the Wi-Fi-only Primebook 2.0, a 4G version, and a detachable Surface-style hybrid. It also aims to expand internationally to Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, and Africa, where student-friendly computing is in high demand.
Closing the Digital Divide
As per the UDISE+ 2023-24 report by the Ministry of Education, only 57% of Indian schools have working computers, and just 53% have internet access. Primebook’s affordable Android laptops play a critical role in filling this infrastructure gap by offering digital learning tools where they are most needed.
Conclusion
With strong investor support, growing brand recognition, and a mission aligned with India’s digital education goals, Primebook is positioning itself as a game-changer in the affordable laptop market. As it continues to expand its offerings and reach, the startup is well on its way to becoming a household name in digital learning across India and beyond.
