Winston India’s founder, Himanshu Adlakha, has drawn attention to how closely a company’s success is tied to the motivation of its people, pointing out that even the strongest valuations can falter if the team isn’t truly aligned.
Winston India Founder on Presence vs. Commitment
Reflecting on a conversation with a fellow entrepreneur, Adlakha noted that while tasks and deadlines may be met, a team without energy or engagement risks slowing down the entire organisation. He described this gap as the difference between physical presence and mental commitment.
This insight led Adlakha to directly question his own team on why they continued to remain with Winston. Their response, according to him, reflected a deep sense of shared ownership rather than mere employment.
Adlakha said the experience changed his perspective on leadership, convincing him that building trust is more effective than micromanagement. He argued that when employees feel empowered, they do not simply stay with the company but actively take ownership of its mission and growth.
For Winston India, he added, this approach represents the foundation of the culture being built, one where employees fight for the brand with the same spirit as its founders.
