Swiggy, one of India’s leading food delivery platforms, is making student life a little tastier and a lot more affordable. In a move that blends innovation with empathy, Swiggy has launched its Student Rewards Program, currently being piloted in over 200 cities and nearly 2,000 college campuses, with ambitious plans to reach more than 4,500 institutions by July 2025.
Why Focus on Students?
For millions of young adults, college is a time of independence, late-night study sessions, and, often, a longing for the comforts of home. Food becomes more than just sustenance-it’s a connection to routine, comfort, and community. Swiggy’s Vice President of Food Marketplace, Deepak Maloo, sums it up:
“For a large number of youngsters living away from home, whether in big cities or smaller college towns, food is often their closest connection to comfort, routine, and home. Swiggy’s new offering is especially designed to cater to students and unlocks specially curated, exclusive perks and access to incredible offers instantly”.
How Does the Program Work?
Swiggy’s Student Rewards Program is tailored for students aged 18–25. To unlock the benefits, students simply verify their college email address through the Swiggy app. Once verified, a bundle of perks awaits:
- Three months of Swiggy One or One Lite at discounted rates: Enjoy free deliveries and extra discounts, perfect for those late-night cravings or group meals.
- Flat ₹200 off on large orders: Whether it’s a weekend hangout or a post-exam celebration, students get ₹200 off on orders above ₹699, ₹799, or ₹899.
- Deals starting at ₹49: Budget-friendly snacks and meals are now just a tap away, making it easier to curb hunger pangs without breaking the bank.
- 20% off on Dineout bills above ₹799: For those who love eating out, Swiggy extends its perks to restaurant dining through Dineout, which it acquired in 2022.
Designed for Every Kind of Student Life
Whether you’re a hostel resident, a day-boarder, or someone juggling internships in a different city, the program is built to be flexible. The benefits aren’t tied to campus location-you can avail them even when you’re home for the holidays or on an internship far from your college town.
A Student’s Perspective
The response from students has been enthusiastic. Yashita Berry, a third-year student at VIT, shares:
“As a student, it is so nice to get some extra discounts. The sign-up process was simple and I have already used two of the offers to order my meals”.
