JSW Energy secures RE projects, reaches 20 GW capacity

JSW Energy has secured significant renewable energy projects, bringing its total locked-in generation capacity to an impressive 20 GW. Moreover, the company continues to expand its footprint in the commercial and industrial (C&I) power market, further underlining its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Achieving 20 GW renewable capacity

Of the total locked-in capacity, JSW Energy now dedicates 3.1 GW to C&I customers. Specifically, this includes 2,654 MW of group captive capacity and 445 MW for third-party C&I clients. Additionally, the company has achieved an operational C&I capacity of 488 MW.

Recent power purchase agreements (PPAs) with DCM Shriram Ltd and Indus Towers Ltd have boosted JSW Energy’s renewable offerings. These partnerships demonstrate the company’s proactive focus on delivering clean energy to key industrial players.

Strategic goals for sustainable growth

JSW Energy aims to achieve 10 GW of operational capacity by FY 2025. Currently, it operates 7.7 GW across thermal, hydro, and renewable sources. Furthermore, the company is heavily investing in energy storage by securing 16.2 GWh of capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects.

By 2030, JSW Energy plans to expand its generation capacity to 20 GW, complemented by 40 GWh of energy storage. Notably, these efforts align with the company’s broader target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Leadership commentary

Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the milestone. He stated, “I am pleased to share that JSW Energy has reached the milestone of being a 20 GW generation platform. This reflects our unwavering commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions.”

Advancing India’s renewable energy future

Through its strategic initiatives, JSW Energy strengthens its position as a leader in India’s renewable energy market. By combining innovation and collaboration, the company consistently powers a greener future and advances toward its ambitious sustainability targets.
