The strategic venture arm of the Nanda Family Office will invest in startups, institutional funds and co-investments, while also exploring partnerships rooted in academic research and intellectual property. Navya Naveli Nanda has announced the launch of Naveli Ventures, the strategic venture arm of the Nanda Family Office, with plans to back entrepreneurs, emerging technologies and research-driven ideas that could shape India’s future.

This venture has been unveiled by Nanda, the co-founder of Nimaya Foundation and the granddaughter of veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, via a LinkedIn post. She laid down an investment strategy that goes far beyond the realm of start-up funding.

The newly introduced venture arm will explore opportunities across direct startup investments, institutional funds, co-investments, and academic and intellectual property (IP) partnerships.

What makes the approach particularly interesting is its inclusion of academic research and intellectual property alongside more established investment routes. This opens up the possibility of supporting promising technologies and ideas that may still be taking shape outside the traditional startup ecosystem.

Naveli Ventures to Focus on Deep Tech, Space, AI and Clean Energy

Naveli Ventures has identified deep technology, space, clean energy, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and health among its areas of interest.

However, Nanda made it clear that the venture arm does not intend to define its investment strategy through a fixed set of sectors.

Instead, the emphasis will be on the significance of the problems being addressed and the conviction of the people working to solve them.

“We define ourselves not by sector but by the scale of the problem and the conviction of those solving it,” Nanda wrote in her announcement.

This approach gives Naveli Ventures room to consider opportunities across different industries, particularly where emerging technologies have the potential to address complex challenges.

The venture arm is actively seeking founders developing new ideas and breakthrough technologies in its identified areas.

Beyond Capital, a Focus on Industry and Academic Connections

Naveli Ventures also intends to draw on the wider network of the Nanda Family Office to support its investment partners.

In her announcement, Nanda highlighted the family’s relationships across industry, government, academia and the investor community as resources that could help the ventures it backs.

The proposed support, therefore, is not limited to financial investment. Naveli Ventures aims to leverage these connections to assist founders and partners as they develop their businesses and technologies.

Its interest in academic and IP partnerships is another notable aspect of the announcement. By including researchers in its outreach, the venture arm is signalling that it wants to engage with innovation beyond businesses that are already established or actively raising startup capital.

The announcement, however, did not disclose the size of the investment corpus, individual investment ticket sizes or any companies that have already received funding.

A Long-Term Investment Approach for India’s Future

Nanda also emphasised that Naveli Ventures is being built with a long-term perspective rather than a focus on quick financial returns.

“We are not chasing quick returns but looking to help build enduring companies alongside exceptional people for India’s future,” she wrote.

The statement reflects an ambition to support businesses over a longer period, especially in technology-led fields where innovation, development and commercial adoption can take time.

While the venture arm has outlined its investment interests and broader philosophy, specific funding commitments and timelines have not been announced.

Naveli Ventures Invites Founders, Fund Managers and Researchers to Connect

Alongside introducing the venture arm, Nanda extended an open invitation to startup founders, fund managers, researchers and fellow investors working on projects with meaningful long-term potential.

The outreach reflects the multiple investment and partnership routes Naveli Ventures intends to pursue, rather than limiting its engagement to startup founders alone.

For Nanda, the launch marks the introduction of a venture investment initiative associated with the Nanda Family Office, alongside her existing role as co-founder of the Nimaya Foundation.

With an interest spanning frontier technologies, research partnerships and long-term company building, Naveli Ventures has outlined where it intends to participate in India’s innovation ecosystem.
