Benjamin Satterley, known to wrestling fans as Pac in AEW and Adrian Neville in WWE, has died at the age of 40.
Professional wrestling star Benjamin Satterley, better known as Pac, has died at 40, bringing an abrupt end to a career that took the Newcastle-born wrestler from Britain’s independent circuit to WWE, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.
AEW announced Satterley’s death on Sunday. The news came only a day after he had competed at the company’s All Out pay-per-view near Chicago. A cause of death was not immediately provided.
The timing of the announcement made the news particularly startling for wrestling fans. Satterley had wrestled Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship in the opening match at All Out, producing a match that lasted close to 20 minutes.
Reports published following his death said the circumstances remained unclear. OutKick reported that it had contacted Chicago police, Hoffman Estates police, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office for comment.
What was Pac’s cause of death?
For those searching for Benjamin Satterley’s cause of death or asking how Pac died, there was no confirmed explanation in the information available at the time of the announcement.
From Newcastle to WWE and AEW
Satterley was a native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and began wrestling in 2004. He first established himself on the British independent scene before taking his career around the world.
His international career included appearances for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, in addition to WWE and AEW.
In WWE, where he was known as Adrian Neville and later Neville, Satterley became one of the company’s most recognisable high-flying performers. His championship record included an NXT Championship, two NXT Tag Team Championships and two Cruiserweight Championships.
His combination of speed and aerial offence helped earn him the nickname “The Man That Gravity Forgot.”
After leaving WWE, Satterley joined AEW in 2019 as Pac. His run there included the AEW All-Atlantic Championship and two reigns as a World Trios Champion. He won one Trios title with Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fénix as Death Triangle, and another alongside Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta as part of the Death Riders.
Wrestling world reacts to Pac’s death
Tributes began appearing soon after AEW confirmed his death.
Will Ospreay described Satterley as “The greatest export from our country” and said he was honoured to have shared the ring with him.
AEW wrestler Evil Uno wrote that he was in shock and called Satterley “a great person, a great soul, a true professional.” Ace Austin, who had recently wrestled Satterley on Collision, reacted simply: “I don’t understand man.”
For fans who knew him as Neville, Adrian Neville or Pac, Satterley’s career stretched across different promotions, countries and eras of modern professional wrestling. His final appearance came not months or weeks before his death, but during one of AEW’s major events just a day before the announcement.
At 40, Benjamin Satterley leaves behind a wrestling career built around a style that made the nickname “The Man That Gravity Forgot” unusually fitting.
