Mumbai-based skincare startup ClayCo has raised Rs 34.59 crore, approximately $3.7 million, in its Series A funding round. The round was led by Twenty-Nine Capital Partners Ventures, with participation from ICMG Global Ventures. This marks a significant step forward for the young brand as it looks to scale its operations and deepen its presence in India’s competitive beauty and personal care market.
The company stated that the newly raised funds will be deployed to accelerate product development, expand into new categories, and strengthen its working capital. The investment reflects growing investor confidence in emerging direct-to-consumer skincare brands that blend traditional concepts with modern formulations.
Building on Earlier Investment Momentum
This latest funding comes after ClayCo’s first external investment round in October 2024, when it secured $2 million from Unilever Ventures. That round marked the brand’s entry into institutional funding and laid the foundation for its subsequent growth trajectory.
With back-to-back funding rounds within a relatively short span, ClayCo appears to be steadily building momentum, supported by both strategic and financial investors. The continued backing indicates confidence in the company’s business model and its ability to scale in a crowded market.
A Brand Rooted in Tradition and Modern Science
Founded in 2023 by Niharika Jhunjhunwala, ClayCo positions itself as a skincare brand that combines natural ingredients with modern scientific formulations. The brand’s philosophy centers on bringing together traditional beauty practices and contemporary skincare innovation.
Its debut product line, titled “Rituals of Japan,” draws inspiration from time-tested Japanese ingredients. The range includes cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and essences formulated using ingredients such as rice, sake, and azuki beans. This approach allows the brand to differentiate itself by offering culturally inspired skincare solutions backed by modern research and formulation techniques.

Strong Revenue Growth Signals Market Acceptance
ClayCo has demonstrated rapid revenue growth since its inception. The company reported a rise in revenue from Rs 5 crore in FY24 to Rs 33 crore in FY25. It further scaled to Rs 72 crore in FY26, indicating strong customer traction and increasing demand for its products.
This growth trajectory highlights the brand’s ability to quickly capture market share and scale its operations within a short period. It also reflects the broader trend of rising consumer interest in premium skincare products that emphasize natural ingredients and effective formulations.
Expanding Distribution Across Online Channels
ClayCo currently sells its products through a mix of direct-to-consumer and third-party platforms. Its D2C website remains a key sales channel, allowing the brand to engage directly with customers and build long-term relationships.
In addition to its own platform, the company has established a presence on major online marketplaces such as Nykaa, Amazon, and Tira. It has also expanded into quick commerce platforms, enabling faster delivery and improved accessibility for urban consumers.
This multi-channel distribution strategy has played a crucial role in driving growth, helping the brand reach a wider audience while maintaining flexibility in its sales approach.
Next Phase Focused on Category Expansion
Looking ahead, ClayCo plans to diversify its product portfolio by entering new segments within the personal care space. The company has outlined plans to expand into body care and hair care categories, building on its existing skincare foundation.
This move is expected to help the brand increase its share of the overall beauty and personal care market while offering a more comprehensive range of products to its customers. By leveraging its existing brand identity and customer base, ClayCo aims to replicate its early success across adjacent categories.
With fresh capital, a growing product portfolio, and strong revenue momentum, the company is positioning itself for its next phase of growth in India’s evolving skincare industry.
