Changi Airport Regains Top Spot Globally, Delhi’s T3 Rises to 32nd

Singapore’s Changi Airport has again been ranked the world’s best airport, reclaiming its number one position in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025. Changi has won this award 13 times, touted worldwide for its luxury, cleanliness, and traveler-friendly facilities.

The airport is known not just for its efficiency, but also for its breathtaking features, from indoor gardens and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall (the 40-meter-high Rain Vortex), to a sprawling mall and entertainment zones. Services like early check-in up to 48 hours before departure and unique attractions like a butterfly garden, cinema, and a dinosaur-themed park, make it stand out.

Changi was also awarded in three more categories:

  • World’s Best Airport Dining
  • Best Airport Washrooms
  • Best Airport in Asia

As reported by CNN, Singapore is to spend $2 billion (approximately ₹16,700 crore) to further enhance Changi, including the construction of a fifth terminal due to open in the 2030s.

Indian Airports Climb Global Rankings

India had reasons to cheer too, as four of its international airports moved up in the 2025 Skytrax rankings:

  • Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport jumped to 32nd place from 36th last year. Known as India’s busiest airport, it is appreciated for modern terminals, improved immigration, and better connectivity.
  • Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport rose to 48th place from 58th. Terminal 2, inspired by nature, features lush greenery, spacious interiors, and local art.
  • Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport improved to 56th from 59th, praised for its cleanliness, staff hospitality, and passenger experience.
  • Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport saw a significant jump from 95th to 73rd position. It is recognized for its unique architecture and art installations.

Although none of the Indian airports made it into the global top 20, the upward movement reflects consistent progress in airport infrastructure and services.
