Starting April 1, travelling on several highways across India will become more expensive. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase toll rates on various routes. This NHAI toll hike will affect private and commercial vehicles, daily commuters, and long-distance travellers.
Key Highlights of the NHAI Toll Hike:
- Lucknow Routes Most Affected:
- Lucknow-Kanpur, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli, and Barabanki, toll charges have been increased.
- For light vehicles (cars/jeeps), the toll will increase from ₹5 to ₹10.
- For heavy vehicles, the toll will increase from ₹20 to ₹25.
- Delhi-Meerut Expressway and NH-9:
- Toll from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut for cars/jeeps will increase from ₹165 to ₹170.
- Light commercial vehicles will now pay ₹275, while trucks will be charged ₹580.
- At the Chhajarsi toll plaza (NH-9), car toll will rise from ₹170 to ₹175.
- Delhi-Jaipur Highway and NH-44:
- At the Kherki Daula toll plaza, the toll for larger vehicles will increase by ₹5.
- Monthly pass rates have also seen a slight increase.
- Varanasi-Gorakhpur and Rohtak Routes:
- Toll rates on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur NH-29 expressway will rise by 5%.
- In Haryana’s Rohtak, toll rates at the Makdauli and Madina toll plazas will also see an increase.
Impact on Daily Commuters:
These travelers commuting daily using these routes will bear the pinch, particularly the users of commercial means. All such regular passengers are requested to inquire about the adjusted rates and coordinate their movements in accordance.
