YouTube TV is expanding its sports offering with the addition of ESPN Unlimited, bringing a wider selection of ESPN live events and programming into the streaming platform as the autumn sports season begins.
ESPN Unlimited Expands YouTube TV’s Sports Lineup
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the integration, giving YouTube TV subscribers access to a broader ESPN offering without requiring them to switch between separate viewing platforms.
The ESPN Unlimited lineup includes live coverage of major sporting events and competitions, including the US Open tennis tournament, NCAA College Football, PGA Tour golf, WWE Premium Live Events, LALIGA and out-of-market NHL games.
Alongside live sports, subscribers will have access to ESPN studio programming, including The Rich Eisen Show, ESPN Originals and Films, as well as the full ESPN 30 for 30 documentary library.
ESPN Unlimited is available to customers subscribed to YouTube TV’s main plan, as well as plans that include Sports.
New Tools Put More Control in Viewers’ Hands
The integration is not limited to adding ESPN programming to the platform. YouTube TV is also introducing several features designed to make it easier for viewers to discover, follow and customise live sports.
Viewers can choose from available language options, home and away broadcasts and alternate camera angles for supported games. Personalised rows will also make it easier to find live events and access them more quickly.
YouTube TV’s Multiview feature adds another layer of flexibility. It allows viewers to create combinations of games and sporting events when multiple fixtures are happening at the same time, helping fans follow more than one event from a single screen.
For viewers who join a game after it has already started, the Key Plays feature offers a way to catch up on important moments without having to watch the entire event from the beginning.
ESPN Unlimited programming will also work with YouTube TV’s existing scores, statistics and unlimited DVR features, bringing these tools into the broader sports viewing experience.
ESPN Events Move Higher in the Live Guide
The addition of ESPN Unlimited also brings changes to YouTube TV’s live guide. The updated guide places three rows of currently airing ESPN Unlimited live events at the top, followed by a dedicated network row featuring additional programming.
The platform has also redesigned its station picker to display the different feeds available for individual games. Depending on the event, viewers can see language options, home and away broadcasts and alternate camera views from the same interface.
These changes are designed to make navigating ESPN’s expanded selection simpler, particularly when several versions or feeds of the same event are available.
Fantasy Football Joins the Viewing Experience
YouTube TV is also extending its ESPN integration to fantasy football. Its Fantasy View feature will now support ESPN Fantasy Football, allowing users to connect their ESPN accounts through YouTube TV settings ahead of the NFL season.
After linking their accounts, fantasy football players can monitor their teams while watching live NFL games. The feature is designed to reduce the need to move between different screens while following both live action and fantasy teams.
A More Connected Home for Sports Fans
With ESPN Unlimited now integrated into YouTube TV, the platform is bringing live games, alternate feeds, statistics, DVR tools and fantasy football features into a more connected viewing experience.
For sports fans, the expansion means more ESPN programming can be accessed within the same YouTube TV environment, while features such as Multiview, Key Plays and Fantasy View give viewers additional ways to follow the action.
