Increased Range with Advanced Battery Technology

It should be noted that the Gen 3 lineup makes a huge positive impact in improving the range of the scooters. Ola Electric has infused more efficient, energy-dense battery packs within the scooters, and so the range improvement is around 20% with respect to older models. Additionally, the incorporation of the Bharat cell on the Pro+ variant offers enhanced energy density with longer trips sans running out of charge.

The allegedly updated range for each model, according to Ola Electric’s Indian Driving Cycle claims, is as follows:

ModelVariant/Battery CapacityRange (IDC Claimed)
Ola S1 X2kWh108 km
3kWh176 km
4kWh242 km
Ola S1 X+4kWh242 km
Ola S1 Pro3kWh176 km
4kWh242 km
Ola S1 Pro+4kWh242 km
5.3kWh320 km

With the Pro+ variant, the range anxiety concern is significantly reduced, as the car can cover 320 km on a single charge, and it is quite attractive for long-distance commuters.

New Motor and Transmission System for Improved Efficiency

It’s also introduced new mid-mounted motors and chain drive transmission systems to all Gen 3 models. The chain drive system is longer-lasting and better performing than the previous belt drive setup, in which o-rings are used with special lubrication to better performance and suppress noise levels. This new system also contributes better overall performance so that the scooters are longer-lasting and very reliable.

Safety Features: Dual-Channel ABS and Brake-By-Wire Technology

Safety features have also been improved in the Gen 3 lineup. The top-of-the-line Ola S1 Pro+ variant features dual-channel ABS, a crucial feature that prevents wheel lockup during hard braking, improving safety and control. In addition, the introduction of a brake-by-wire system allows for dynamic modulation of braking force between regenerative and mechanical braking. The system preserves the brake pads and enhances braking efficiency.

More Efficient Electronics and Simplified Design

Ola Electric has streamlined its electronics by reducing the number of integrated boards used in the scooters. The previous generation of the S1 had three integrated boards, whereas the Gen 3 lineup has simplified this to just one. This reduction in components not only improves the scooters’ reliability and performance but also helps lower the overall cost of production, benefiting customers in the long run.

A Leap Forward in Electric Mobility

Ola Electric is taking another stride forward toward a revolution of electric scooters in India. Updated features including more range, enhanced motor tech, and several upgraded safety features made the scooters of its new Gen 3 lineup better deals for potential buyers. Because the company remains continually innovative with product offerings, the company well-equipped to head this charge that’s happening for a transition toward electrical vehicles within the country of India.

Looking forward, Ola Electric’s continued endeavors towards innovation combined with ever-rising demand for sustainable transportation strengthens the case that the company will lead in the space of electric mobility.
