Karnataka Government Backs CircleChess in Elevate 2024-25: A Milestone for Tech-Enabled Chess Education

In a landmark achievement for Indian chess and the startup ecosystem, CircleChess has been selected as a winner of the prestigious Elevate 2024 Startup Program under the Education and Ed-Tech category. 

CircleChess: Pioneering AI-Driven Chess Learning

CircleChess, founded in 2023 by Kumar Gaurav and Swati Agrawal, is changing how people learn chess using technology. Its main product, the Caissa AI Coach, provides personalized training plans. The platform also offers tools for managing tournaments and a WhatsApp assistant to help connect players. With over 60,000 members and a team of more than 25 people, CircleChess wants to make chess training easy and available for everyone, no matter their skill level.

Elevate 2024: Empowering Innovative Startups

Elevate 2024 is Karnataka’s flagship initiative designed to identify and support the state’s most innovative startups by providing resources, mentorship, and financial backing. With an emphasis on diversity, 101 businesses were given ₹25 crore in investment this year. 36 of the nominated companies are from outside Bengaluru, and 42 of them are run by women.

“This moment marks a historic milestone, not just for CircleChess, but for the entire chess community in India,” stressed the innovative founders of the game, Swati Agrawal and Kumar Gaurav. Being the first chess organisation to receive official recognition from the Karnataka government is a wonderful honour for us because it demonstrates our dedication and diligence. This recognition reaffirms our dedication to teaching chess to all, guaranteeing its impact and preparedness to satisfy demands in the future.    

A Vision for the Future

With the help of the Karnataka government, CircleChess is ready to increase its influence and reach.   The company will be able to increase operations, broaden its technological services, and advance its goal of democratising chess education in India and outside with the help of Elevate 2024 funding.
