Coinbase rolled out a US-domiciled Bitcoin yield product for accredited investors and, on the same day, renewed its India push by investing in CoinDCX at a post-money valuation of $2.45 billion, moves that together signal a strategy built around institutional yield and high-growth emerging markets.

A yield product for US accredited investors

Coinbase Asset Management has introduced the Coinbase US Bitcoin Yield Fund (USCBYF). The strategy is designed to deliver the return of bitcoin plus additional BTC yield, with subscriptions allowed in-kind (BTC) as well as in USD or USDC. Yield will be generated primarily through BTC private-credit lending and basis trading, according to the firm’s announcement.

The fund will be open to US accredited investors in the coming weeks and is slated to be available in certain retirement accounts in 2026 through a partnership with iTrustCapital, enabling tax-deferred IRA access to the product. The launch follows an offshore Bitcoin Yield Fund that Coinbase rolled out in May for non-US investors.

Fresh capital for CoinDCX at a $2.45 bn post-money

Separately, Coinbase has agreed to invest in CoinDCX in a round described as an extension of the previous fundraise, taking CoinDCX’s post-money valuation to $2.45 billion.

The company said proceeds will fund product innovation, user growth, expansion into new geographies (including the Middle East), and education initiatives; completion remains subject to regulatory approvals. A Coinbase executive framed India and the Middle East as among the most dynamic regions for crypto adoption, underscoring the strategic rationale for the investment.

Why these moves matter
  • Bringing yield onshore: USCBYF gives US institutions a domestic avenue to pursue bitcoin-linked yield with a clearly disclosed engine (private credit + basis trades) and a path to retirement-account wrappers in 2026 via iTrustCapital, features likely to appeal to allocators that operate under strict mandates.
  • Doubling down on India: Coinbase’s check into CoinDCX, at a multibillion-dollar valuation, reflects persistent conviction in India’s crypto user base and developer depth, as well as the exchange’s plan to scale across India and the Middle East. The funding amount remains undisclosed.
The road ahead
  • USCBYF timeline: Open to accredited investors in the coming weeks; access via certain retirement accounts from 2026.
  • CoinDCX execution: Deployment toward product, growth, geography expansion, and education; closing contingent on regulatory approvals.
