OpenAI has appointed Indian startup AuraML founder Arjun Gupta as its first Solutions Architect in India, a move that formalises the company’s on-the-ground support for startups trying to take AI products from demos to production-grade deployments.
Gupta joins OpenAI’s go-to-market (GTM) team after previously serving as co-founder and chief technology officer at AuraML, described as a generative robotics simulation and synthetic data startup. He shared the career move on LinkedIn, saying his work will focus on helping founders move from early experimentation to full-scale deployment using OpenAI models.
In his LinkedIn post, Gupta said he has joined OpenAI “as the first Solution Architect in India (GTM team),” and that his role will centre on supporting startups building with GPT, multimodal models, and agent-based systems.
The appointment comes as demand in India “shifts from AI prototypes to production-ready systems” across enterprises and the startup ecosystem, pointing to a more execution-heavy phase where teams need help with reliability, scaling, and real-world deployment.
What Gupta brings from AuraML
At AuraML, Gupta led development of cloud-native infrastructure and production AI pipelines. The company raised $1.23 million in funding and worked with partners including NVIDIA, AWS and Google Cloud.
His experience spans infrastructure scaling, model training and real-world customer deployment, areas that typically become non-negotiable once AI moves beyond pilots and into live business workflows.
