Anant Mukesh Ambani, director at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), and Murray Auchincloss, CEO at BP, inaugurated the 500th Jio-bp pulse electric vehicle (EV) charging station on Thursday. According to a company statement, this is the rapid advancement of Jio-BP, the joint fuels and mobility venture between RIL and global energy giant BP. The new charging station is at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre within the Jio World Plaza and Convention Centre in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
Yet another huge growth Jio-BP witnessed was in its charging station network. While it started with 1,300, it grew to 5,000 within a year. Most importantly, 95% of the company’s EV-charging network comprises fast charging stations with the industry’s highest reliability and an uptime of 96%.
The company has also introduced high-powered 480 kW chargers and efficient, fast-charging solutions at malls, public parking areas, corporate parks, and hotels. Its infrastructure is targeted to alleviate range anxiety in EV users and minimize the span through DC fast chargers.
Ambani said, “With the largest share of fast-charging stations and the fastest growth in EV charging infrastructure, Jio-BP offers a well-packaged, digitized charging solution to millions of Indians.” Jio-BP also outlines enhancing sustainable mobility by harnessing solar power from Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd’s solar plants.
Murray Auchincloss, EVP for growth at BP, said, “One of the key planks of BP’s transition into a fully-fledged integrated energy company is EV charging.” “We are focusing on scale, speed, and strategic locations to provide a seamless customer experience,” he said.
As a firm, Jio-BP is continually committed to increasing charging infrastructure, driving progress toward a sustainable future.
