The Prime Minister’s internship program has been well received by corporate entities, as evidenced by the 81% of companies that support it, according to the TeamLease Edtech survey. 932 businesses responded to the survey, showing a strong commitment to giving young people access to internship opportunities. With an emphasis on closing the gap between education and employment, the survey indicates that the program is in good alignment with industry standards and expectations.

Key Findings of the TeamLease Edtech Survey

Support for PMIS: Given its potential to increase youth employability, a sizable 81% of corporations are in favour of PMIS expansion.

Job Absorption Intentions: Only 73% of businesses said they would hire a small portion of interns (up to 10%) as full-time employees after their internship, despite the strong support.

Funding for internships through CSR: Roughly 34.43% of those surveyed said they would be open to allocating as much as 20% of their CSR budget to internships. More than 22.81%, however, only plan to budget up to 5%.

Emphasis on Tech Roles: 76% of companies prioritize technology roles in their internship programs, indicating a growing need for talent with digital skills.

Preferences for Internship Duration: Almost three-quarters (73%) of the companies polled believe that an internship lasting one to six months is ideal for developing skills.

The findings of the survey indicate a change in business tactics toward funding internships as a means of bridging the knowledge gap between school and work. Universities and corporations are working together to improve the quality and relevance of internships, as more than half of respondents anticipate a significant social return on investment within one to two years. Internships, according to many, help students hone their abilities and get ready for challenges in the real world.
