Chandrababu Naidu urges Google to establish Chip Design Centre in Visakhapatnam at WEF 2025

Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the C.M. of Andhra Pradesh, strongly advocates for Google to establish a chip design and manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam. Chandrababu Naidu presented a key proposal to Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Chandrababu Naidu believes this initiative will boost technological development and innovation in the region. Given the increasing demand for chip production for server operations, Chandrababu Naidu made a compelling case for Visakhapatnam as the prime location for Google’s new chip design centre.

During their conversations, Chandrababu Naidu asked Google to include a manufacturing facility in its server supply chain to establish Andhra Pradesh as a technology centre. In addition to highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s strategic advantages in luring international investments, particularly in the infrastructure and technology sectors, Chandrababu Naidu gave Thomas Kurian his word that the state government would fully support these initiatives.

Additionally, Chandrababu Naidu’s partnership with Google aligns with the State’s overarching objectives of developing into a global centre for sustainability and innovation. According to Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh already has two Google Cloud locations in Delhi and Mumbai, and it recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a “Data City” in Visakhapatnam that will prioritize the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the improvement of local youth’s skill set.

Eventually, Chandrababu Naidu’s proactive strategy at the WEF aims to capitalize on Andhra Pradesh’s potential as a major player in the technology industry, especially in the design and manufacturing of chips, which are essential parts of contemporary server operations.

Establishing a Google chip design centre in Visakhapatnam will significantly impact the local economy of the State

Establishing a Google chip design centre in Visakhapatnam is anticipated to significantly affect the local economy. The economic climate in Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh is expected to improve with the presence of a large tech company like Google, which is likely to draw in more investments from other tech companies and industries.

As the government invests in facilities that support tech operations, establishing the chip design centre may improve local infrastructure, such as utilities and transportation.

The chip design centre will create numerous job opportunities at Google and in associated sectors like supply chain management, construction, and services.
