Actor and producer Anushka Sharma has picked up a minority stake in Agilitas Sports, adding another high-profile name to the Bengaluru-based sportswear startup’s cap table. But this is not being positioned as a simple celebrity endorsement. Sharma will also work with the company to co-create One8 Yoga, a yoga-focused activewear line under the One8 brand linked to Virat Kohli.

The financial terms of Sharma’s investment have not been disclosed.

Agilitas co-founder and CEO Abhishek Ganguly said Sharma is partnering with the company by investing capital and building yoga-wear. Sharma also confirmed her association publicly, saying she was drawn by the intent, ambition and the opportunity to build something meaningful with One8.

For Agilitas, the move brings together three things it has been steadily building since launch: celebrity-led credibility, sportswear execution experience and a sharper play in India’s growing athleisure and wellness market.

More Than A Famous Face

Sharma’s role is expected to go beyond brand visibility. The One8 Yoga line will focus on activewear meant for comfort, movement, flexibility and everyday use. The collection is scheduled to launch on June 21, which is observed as International Day of Yoga.

That timing gives the launch a clear cultural hook. Yoga in India is not just a fitness routine. It sits at the intersection of wellness, lifestyle, discipline and daily habit. By placing Sharma at the centre of a yoga-wear line, Agilitas appears to be building a product story that is softer, wider and more lifestyle-driven than a conventional performance sportswear drop.

The move also reflects a wider shift in how celebrities are engaging with consumer brands. Instead of only charging endorsement fees, more public figures are taking ownership stakes and getting involved in product or brand-building roles. In Sharma’s case, the announcement makes her both an investor and a strategic collaborator.

The One8 Link

The Sharma investment follows Virat Kohli’s association with Agilitas. Kohli joined the startup as a co-investor and business partner last year, after the end of his long-running sponsorship association with Puma.

Kohli invested around ₹40 crore in Agilitas as part of a broader partnership. The arrangement also included Agilitas acquiring One8, the lifestyle and athleisure brand linked to him. With Sharma now joining the company and co-creating One8 Yoga, the brand is getting a clearer extension into wellness-led activewear.

This is important because One8 is no longer just a celebrity-linked label sitting beside a sportswear startup. It is becoming one of the company’s key consumer-facing assets. The addition of a yoga line gives Agilitas a way to speak to consumers who may not identify as athletes, but still buy activewear for workouts, yoga, travel, errands and daily comfort.

Agilitas Sports was founded in 2023 by former Puma India executives Abhishek Ganguly, Atul Bajaj and Amit Prabhu. Ganguly previously served as Managing Director of Puma India and South-East Asia.

The company is not trying to operate only as a marketing-led apparel brand. It has been building a vertically integrated model across sports footwear, apparel, manufacturing, brand development and direct-to-consumer retail. In simple terms, Agilitas wants more control over how products are designed, made, distributed and sold.

That strategy separates it from brands that depend heavily on outsourced manufacturing and celebrity-led campaigns. The company has been expanding through multiple routes. It acquired Mochiko Shoes Pvt. Ltd. in 2023, giving it access to sports footwear manufacturing capabilities. It also secured a 40-year exclusive licence for Italian sportswear brand Lotto in India and Australia.

In January 2026, Agilitas entered physical retail with SportsYard in Bengaluru. The store is spread across 34,000 square feet and is designed as a large-format sports retail destination.

Investor Confidence Has Been Building

Agilitas has attracted investor interest since its early days. In 2023, it raised ₹400 crore from funds managed by Convergent Finance. It later secured another ₹100 crore from Nexus Venture Partners.

The company has also drawn capital and attention from sports personalities. Apart from Kohli and Sharma, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has invested in Agilitas. Young cricketer Abhishek Sharma has also become a shareholder.

This mix of institutional capital, sports credibility and celebrity-backed product building gives Agilitas a different profile in India’s sportswear market. The company is not merely selling apparel. It is trying to build a sports and lifestyle house with manufacturing strength, multiple brands and direct consumer touchpoints.

The One8 Yoga announcement comes at a moment when athleisure has moved beyond gyms and training grounds. Consumers increasingly buy activewear for everyday life, not just sport. That gives yoga-wear a wider addressable base, especially when the product promise is built around comfort and daily movement.

For Sharma, the investment fits into a quieter but meaningful business role. The public announcement did not frame her as a campaign ambassador. It presented her as someone entering the company as an investor and creator. That distinction matters because consumers can usually tell the difference between a paid face and a stakeholder.

For Agilitas, the challenge now is execution. Celebrity capital can open doors and attract attention, but product quality, pricing, distribution and repeat purchase will decide whether One8 Yoga becomes a serious activewear line or remains a launch-day headline.

What is clear for now is that Agilitas is using the One8 platform more aggressively. With Kohli already tied to the brand and Sharma now coming in through yoga-wear, the company is building a sports-lifestyle story that blends fitness, wellness and everyday fashion.

But should Agilitas manage to monetize the story in a way where consumers actually use the product, the move could go down in history not just as a celebrity venture but also as an integral part of One8’s strategy to establish itself as an activewear line in India.
