The Moms Co.: How a Mother’s Concern Became India’s Most Trusted Natural Care Brand

We often forget the stories behind everyday baby and pregnancy-safe skincare products. For The Moms Co., it all began in 2016, when Malika Sadani and her husband, Mohit Sadani, founded the company to provide toxin-free, natural personal care products for mothers and children. They wanted to rebuild trust between producers and consumers.

A Reality Check That Set Off Something Real

Before starting The Moms Co., Malika worked as an engineer and banker and moved from London to India. She had trouble finding safe skincare and baby care products for her daughters because most available options had chemicals she didn’t trust. By connecting with other mothers online, she realized many shared her concerns, showing there was a real need in the market.

Inspired by this, Malika and Mohit started Amishi Consumer Technologies in 2016 with limited savings and a strong focus on openness and safety. By March 2017, they launched The Moms Co., offering products for prenatal and postnatal care, gentle baby washes, and personal care items without harmful chemicals.

Steady Growth Powered by Real Demand

Right from the start, The Moms Co. focused on science-backed formulas and global safety standards instead of aggressive marketing. Their products were dermatologically tested and received certifications such as Australia-Certified Toxin-Free™ and Made Safe™, which were rare for Indian brands at the time. The Moms Co. was founded in 2016 by Malika Sadani and her husband, Mohit Sadani, after Malika identified a lack of safe, toxin-free products for mothers and babies in India. This focus on safety and transparency helped build trust with parents seeking reliable products. In its early days, the company grew slowly and relied on the founders’ personal savings. But as mothers shared their experiences, more people heard about the brand. By 2017, The Moms Co. got its first big outside funding, including angel investments and a $1 million Series A from DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital. This money helped them expand their products and reach more customers through India’s growing e-commerce platforms.

Scaling Up With Big Funding and Bigger Dreams

The company kept growing, and by 2019, The Moms Co. was one of India’s fastest-growing direct-to-consumer personal care brands. That year, it raised about $5 million in a Series B extension to support new products, technology improvements, and expanding into offline retail.According to the sources, in 2020, The Moms Co. raised $8 million in Series B funding from existing investors and angel backers, with plans to reach five million consumers and become one of India’s fastest direct-to-consumer brands to achieve the Rs 100 crore milestone.

By this time, The Moms Co. was available in thousands of locations across India and was becoming a well-known brand. The pandemic made even more people look for safe, reliable products, showing that the founders’ vision really resonated with customers.

A Tactical Pivot: Acquisition and Integration

Growth didn’t stop with new funding. In October 2021, Good Glamm Group, a leading South Asian content-to-commerce company, acquired a majority stake in The Moms Co. for about ₹500 crore. This partnership aimed to help the brand reach more people through Good Glamm’s digital channels and retail network. Over the next few years, Good Glamm increased its ownership and, by late 2024, fully acquired The Moms Co. Malika and Mohit stepped back from daily operations, and the company became part of a larger beauty and personal care group ready for global growth.

The Human Story Behind the Numbers

The Moms Co. stands out not just for its funding and certifications, but because it began as a mother’s answer to unsafe products. Malika put in the work by researching ingredients, making small batches at home, and listening carefully to other mothers. Every product reflects this promise of safety and care, showing that real business growth comes from genuine impact.
