Netflix to Stream WWE: Triple H Says ‘Namaste, India!’

In a groundbreaking move for wrestling enthusiasts across India, Netflix announced it will begin streaming World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) from April 1, 2025. This partnership will bring WWE’s weekly flagship shows — Raw, NXT, and SmackDown — to Indian audiences, along with Premium Live Events such as SummerSlam, Money in the Bank, Royal Rumble, and the much-anticipated WrestleMania.

The announcement was made through a special video message by WWE Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who welcomed Indian fans to what he called the “Netflix era” of WWE. The collaboration is part of Netflix’s long-term strategy to expand its sports entertainment portfolio in India, a market where the popularity of WWE has been on a steady rise.

A Strategic Move for Netflix in India

This partnership is expected to significantly bolster Netflix’s subscriber base in India by tapping into the country’s vast WWE fan community. Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, previously stated the platform’s goal to become “India’s most-loved streaming service,” and adding WWE content appears to be a strategic step in that direction.

Impact on Indian Wrestling Fans

For Indian viewers, having WWE content on Netflix provides an easy and convenient means of staying current with their popular wrestling programs and events. Hitherto offered over sports channels or WWE’s own network, shifting to Netflix makes it easier for millions of viewers. It is also expected to promote WWE among a wider audience in India, such as younger audiences who are more familiar with online streaming.

A Boost for WWE’s India Strategy

India is one of WWE’s largest markets outside the United States, both in terms of viewership and merchandise sales. The partnership with Netflix could significantly enhance WWE’s reach and engagement in the region. By aligning with a platform that has a strong hold on the Indian OTT market, WWE is positioning itself for greater brand penetration and fan base expansion.

Looking Forward

With the Indian streaming market growing more competitive with JioHotstar, Amazon Prime Video, etc, Netflix’s tie-up with WWE may be a differentiator. Fans of wrestling can now enjoy quality streams of all significant WWE events without subscribing to multiple services.

As April 1st approaches, anticipation is palpable among WWE viewers in India. Whether it’s the over-the-top personas of superstars like Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, or Seth Rollins, or the dramatic high-speed thrills of experiences like WrestleMania, Indian viewers are in for a rollercoaster experience.
