Dholera, often called the “Singapore of India,” is set to become the country’s first smart industrial city. Located just 100 km from Ahmedabad, this ambitious project rapidly transforms the region into a global manufacturing and technology hub.
Tata Group’s Mega Investment in Dholera
The Tata Group plans to allocate ₹91,000 crore to establish a large-scale fabrication plant in Dholera, providing a significant boost to the industry. This initiative supports India’s objective of minimising import dependence and strengthening domestic chip production.

Massive Infrastructure Push
The infrastructure in Dholera is developing at a fast pace. A six-lane highway now connects the city to Ahmedabad, making travel easier. An international airport is also under construction and is expected to be operational by July. Additionally, plans for a metro system are underway to further enhance connectivity.
Over ₹1 Lakh Crore Invested So Far
Private companies have already poured in ₹1 lakh crore, as per reports, while the central and state governments have contributed ₹15,000 crore. The India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) predicts that Dholera will play a crucial role in India’s industrial growth, with electronics demand expected to hit $500 billion by 2030.
A Game-Changer for India’s Economy
Dholera is well-positioned to draw in international companies and propel India’s economic expansion thanks to its plug-and-play industrial infrastructure, simplicity of governance, and sustainability emphasis. According to experts, this smart city will transform India’s position in the global semiconductor market in addition to creating thousands of jobs.
