The company is India’s first brand dedicated to researching, processing, and adding value to underutilized indigenous fruits—especially the Indian Ber (Jujube). Introducing Abrosaa, which has quickly gained a lot of popularity in India’s food and beverage startup scene.

Genesis of Abrosaa

Abrosaa was founded by Shivani Bundela, a young food-tech entrepreneur from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh in 2021.  Shivani grew up seeing traditional Indian fruits like Ber, Jamun, Karonda, Wood Apple, and Mulberry slowly disappear from markets and lunch boxes and this inspired her to start Abrosaa.

Shivani studied Food Technology at Amity University and has professional training in food safety management systems. Before starting Abrosaa, she worked in new product development at Bundelkhand Agro Innovations and gained experience in business operations, branding, marketing, and quality control through various internships at companies like CupShup, GSK, and Puratos.

What does Abrosaa Do?

Abrosaa takes the Indian Ber fruit and turns it into many new and healthy products. Some of their popular products are:

  • Dark chocolates made with Ber fruit
  • Jams that are rich in fiber
  • Herbal juices made from Ber
  • A spicy snack called Ber masala chatkara
  • Different kinds of spreads

All these products are natural and do not have any artificial colors or flavors. They are made for people who want healthy food and enjoy traditional Indian tastes.

Helping People and the Environment

Abrosaa cares a lot about helping people and nature. Here’s how:

  • More than 80% of the people who work at Abrosaa are women, many from tribal communities. They get training and jobs to support their families.
  • The company has helped over 1,000 farmers grow Ber fruit, giving them a steady income.
  • Abrosaa has planted more than 3,000 Ber trees in dry areas like Bundelkhand and Rajasthan. This helps turn empty, dry land into green orchards and fights desertification (when land becomes desert).
  • They work closely with local communities and government groups to grow their business and help the environment.

Awards and Recognition

Abrosaa has received a lot of attention for its work:

  • It was shown on TV channels like CNBC-TV18 and CNBC Awaaz in a special series called “Small Towns, Big Dreams.”
  • The company took part in a program at IIM Bangalore called NSRCEL, where they got advice to make their business stronger.
  • Abrosaa’s products were featured at big events like the Mahakumbh Mela, where many people got to try the Ber fruit.
  • It has been praised by groups like The Ecopreneur of India for its work in helping the environment and communities.

Growth and Sales

Abrosaa has been growing fast. Although exact sales numbers are not known, the company is expanding its products and reaching more customers across India and even outside the country. More and more people who want healthy and eco-friendly food are buying Abrosaa’s products.
