Indian celebrity divorces are mostly accompanied by large alimony settlements, marking changes in financial affluence and modern marital lifestyles. The latest case in point is that of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal’s divorce from dancer-choreographer Dhanashree Verma. The Bombay High Court hastened their case, waiving the six-month waiting period. Chahal was to settle ₹4.75 crore to Verma, of which ₹2.37 crore has been settled and the remainder will be settled on finalization.

The divorce of Gautam Singhania and Nawaz Modi Singhania has been bitter. Nawaz had demanded 75% of her ₹11,600 crore assets in dowry for having suffered domestic abuse. Singhania proposed a family trust instead of cash payment, which was rejected. - Hrithik Roshan – Sussanne Khan (₹380 crore, 2014)
Actor Hrithik Roshan and interior designer Sussanne Khan terminated their 14-year marriage on amicable terms, settling for a payment of ₹380 crore. They are still co-parenting their two sons. - Samantha Ruth Prabhu – Naga Chaitanya (₹200 crore given, 2021)
