Ankita Patel: From 30-Ft Fall to Unstoppable Comeback

Some stories don’t just inspire you, they touch your heart and stay with you forever. Ankita Patel’s journey from a bright young girl in Ahmedabad to a determined woman chasing her dreams in Australia is one of those stories.

Growing up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Ankita lived much like any ambitious young student. She studied at Sardar Patel & Swami Vivekanand School and later at Diwan Ballubhai High School. With dreams bigger than the skies, she completed her Bachelor of Engineering at Silver Oak College of Engineering and Technology in 2015. Everything was falling perfectly into place; she had cleared her IELTS exam in October 2015 and was eagerly awaiting approval to study abroad.

But life changed in an instant

On a pleasant November afternoon, Ankita and her friends visited the historic Dada Hari Stepwell, excited to capture memories through their cameras. But in a tragic accident, Ankita fell from a height of about 30-35 feet. What followed was something no one could have prepared for: a brain haemorrhage, a fractured spine, and a race against time. Ankita slipped into a coma for 48 hours. The doctors had little hope. Her family stood by helplessly, praying for a miracle.

And a miracle it was for Ankita Patel

Against all odds, Ankita woke up. But survival came with its own battles. She underwent a major spinal surgery, four screws, two rods, and a plate were inserted in her lower spine. She had to relearn how to stand, walk, and move, all while coping with the devastating news that she had lost 50% of her hearing.

Most dreams would shatter under such weight. But Ankita chose not to give up.

Balancing herself on a stick, facing daily struggles that most of us can hardly imagine, she still set her sights on the life she had dreamed of. She moved to Melbourne, Australia, and completed her Master of Construction Management by June 2018.

Every step she took was heavy with pain, but even heavier with courage.

Nearly a decade later, Ankita still fights silent battles every day, but her smile shines brighter than ever. She embraces her challenges, laughs, dreams, and builds not just her life but a future she once thought was slipping away.

“I dream of being among the top ten millionaires in Australia,” Ankita says with a spark in her eyes. “And every single day, I am working toward that dream.”

Gratitude fills her voice when she speaks about her parents and the loved ones who never stopped believing in her when the world seemed bleak. Their faith became her strength.

To every woman out there, Ankita shares a simple yet powerful message:

“Live your life to the fullest. Take care of your mental health. And never give up — you never know how close you might be to achieving everything you ever wanted.”

Ankita Patel’s story reminds us that even after the worst falls, we can rise, not just to stand again, but to fly higher than ever before.
