Top 10 Women-Employing Companies in India 2024-25

On International Women’s Day 2025, the Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 report highlighted the significant strides made by Indian companies in promoting gender diversity. Leading Indian firms have collectively created approximately 1.4 million new jobs, employing a total of 8.4 million people, with a substantial contribution to women’s employment. The report revealed that women now occupy 17% of board positions across these companies, with 13 new women leaders appointed to board roles this year.

Top 10 Women-Employing Companies in India

According to the report, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) leads the list, employing 2,14,098 women, constituting 34% of its workforce. Infosys follows with 1,24,569 female employees (37%), while Quess Corp ranks third despite having a relatively lower percentage of women (17%) due to its sizeable overall workforce.

Notably, Shahi Exports stands out with a remarkable 70% of its workforce being women, reflecting a strong commitment to empowering women at the grassroots level.

Growing Influence of Women in Leadership

The report also highlighted a positive trend in women’s representation on corporate boards. Companies such as Apollo Hospitals, HCL Technologies, and Piramal Enterprises have made notable progress, each having five or more women directors. This aligns with the Indian government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat with Nari Shakti,” which aims for a women-led development model by 2047.

Towards a Gender-Equal Workforce

The Indian government’s move towards a shift from women’s development to women-led development is indicative of a more significant change in society. To reach 70% of the workforce as women by 2047, such trends are optimistic.
