DPIIT has started accepting applications for the fifth National Startup Awards in line with the Startup India ethos. Innovative, significant, and scalable startups from all over India are encouraged to apply for consideration by the Department.
Who Can Apply & What’s Covered?
Open to DPIIT-recognized startups, the awards span 20 general categories and over 50 sectors, such as agriculture, clean energy, fintech, aerospace, cybersecurity, healthcare, edtech, and accessibility. There’s a special push under Aatmanirbhar Bharat to spotlight ventures from Tier II/III cities, rural hubs, and underrepresented states.
Evaluation Process & Award Structure
NSA follows a multi-stage selection:
- Eligibility screening
- Sector-wise shortlisting
- Assessment by expert panels – including government officials, investors, academics, and industry leaders.
Each winner in the general categories will receive a ₹ 10 lakh cash prize, plus mentorship, investor connections, regulatory guidance, and access to national and international platforms.
The Maha Rathi ₹30 Crore Push
In March, DPIIT partnered with Avaana Capital, LetsVenture, HDFC, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, IVCA and others to kick off the Startup Maha Rathi Challenge, deploying a ₹30 crore funding pool. This aligns with the NSA goal to expand support for mission-driven startups.
Timeline & How to Apply
The Startup India, the e-platform for startups and entrepreneurs provides them with the opportunity to apply under two categories, with the application deadline now extended to this month July 20, 2025. Following this, a thorough evaluation will take place, and results are anticipated later this year in 2025.

- Confirm the DPIIT recognition and BHASKAR registration.
- Visit the Startup India NSA 5.0 portal.
- Fill required fields and upload relevant documents.
- Submit before 20 July 2025 to be considered.
