Light Motor Vehicle License for Tractors
The LMV license typically used for cars and light vehicles up to 7,500 kilograms, also covers tractors. This means that if you have an LMV license, you are legally allowed to drive a tractor. Without a valid license, operating a tractor can lead to hefty fines or even legal trouble.
Penalties for Driving Without a License
It’s illegal to drive a tractor without a license. If caught, the driver can be fined or even jailed. Also, making changes to a tractor, like adding non-standard parts, can result in a fine of up to one lakh rupees.
Insurance is Mandatory
Apart from having a valid driving license, it is also mandatory to insure your tractor. This insurance provides coverage in case of accidents, ensuring compensation for damages or injuries.
