By extending its service area in Tamil Nadu, India’s quick commerce platform, Zepto, finds itself in one of the most rapidly developing sectors. Besides Chennai, Zepto has extended its services to regions like Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Vellore, and Salem. The growing need for dependable and fast delivery across the state is driving the expansion plans.
Strategic Deployment of Dark Stores
To ensure prompt deliveries, Zepto has established 20 dark stores across Tamil Nadu. Each store is deliberately stocked and sited to allow for optimal dispatching of deliveries within a 2-3 km radius. Such an arrangement allows the delivery partner to safely and efficiently cruise at a speed of 15-20 km per hour, thus keeping up with Zepto’s presupposition of 10-minute deliveries.
Empowering Local Agriculture
Zepto’s support for the local community is reflected in the partnership with 100-plus farmers in Tamil Nadu. The farmers supply fresh produce, like tender coconuts and green vegetables from places such as Palacode and Pollachi, thereby guaranteeing the freshness and quality of products procured locally for consumers.

The Chief Growth Officer of Zepto, Divesh Sawhney, highlighted the significance of the Tamil Nadu market, stating, “Tamil Nadu is a key market for Zepto, with its dynamic urban centers and strong demand for convenience. Expanding our services not only allows sellers to serve users faster but also creates new opportunities for local businesses.“
He further added, “We are committed to bringing speed, quality, and affordability to every doorstep while deepening our connection with the community.“
Pioneering Inclusivity in Quick Commerce
In an unprecedented move towards inclusivity, Zepto launched its first-ever women-only dark store in Madambakkam, Chennai. The dark store will be completely operated by an all-women workforce of 22 team members, thereby laying the groundwork for empowerment in the quick-commerce space. With Zepto ramping up the revolution of quick commerce, its strategic expansions and community-centric ventures could present a strong contender in India’s delivery ecosystem.
