Hyatt Hotels Corporation is set to expand significantly in India, with an ambitious target of 100 properties over the next five to six years. This growth plan aligns with Hyatt’s commitment to becoming a major player in India’s thriving travel and hospitality market.
Strategic growth for Hyatt Hotels in India
Hyatt’s Managing Director for India and Southwest Asia, Sunjae Sharma, emphasized the brand’s enthusiasm for this expansion. “We are eager to grow in India,” he shared in a recent interview. “With a strong pipeline and strategic initiatives, we’re confident of reaching the 100-property milestone.” This target aligns with the increasing demand for quality hospitality in India.
Hyatt operates 52 hotels in Southwest Asia, including 50 in India and two in Nepal, and recently surpassed the 10,000 keys milestone, solidifying its position in the region.
Expanding Hyatt’s portfolio in India
To meet this growing demand, Hyatt will introduce more global brands to India. Sharma noted, “Our portfolio in India is the third largest for Hyatt outside the Americas and China, reflecting our commitment to the region’s booming hospitality market.” Hyatt Hotels will add brands like Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Centric, among others, to enhance guest experiences.
New spaces and innovations at Hyatt Hotels
In a move to meet India’s demand for personalized hospitality, Hyatt recently launched the ‘Grand Showroom’ at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai. This new, innovative space underscores Hyatt’s commitment to exceptional guest experiences. Furthermore, Hyatt Regency will soon open new hotels in Kasauli and Ghaziabad, while Hyatt Place will expand to Aurangabad and Haridwar. In addition, Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara will open soon in Bangladesh, further growing Hyatt’s South Asian footprint.
Strengthening Hyatt Hotels’ market position in India
Additionally, Hyatt Hotels is exploring opportunities in new cities like Bhopal and plans to introduce The Unbound Collection by 2025. Earlier in 2024, Hyatt announced a pipeline of eight new properties, which will add around 1,200 keys across urban and leisure destinations in India.
With a strategy centered on loyalty, luxury, leisure, lifestyle, and wellness (LLLLW), Hyatt Hotels is positioned to grow further. “India ranks among Hyatt’s top growth markets globally,” Sharma concluded, “and we see significant potential for continued expansion here.”
