Big News for Car Lovers
Tesla, the famous electric car company led by Elon Musk, is finally coming to India! The company will open its very first showroom in Mumbai on July 15, 2025. This is a big moment for Indian car fans who have been waiting for Tesla for many years.
Where Is the Showroom?
The first Tesla showroom will be at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), one of Mumbai’s most popular business areas. This new showroom is called a “Tesla Experience Centre.” Here, people can see the cars, check prices, and use special tools to choose their favorite model and features.
At first, the showroom will be open for VIPs and business partners, but the general public can visit a few days later.
Which Tesla Cars Are Coming?
The Tesla Model Y will be the first car available in India. This is a popular electric SUV known for its long range and modern features.
The Model Y comes in different versions, including options for five or seven seats.
Later, Tesla may also bring the Model 3 and other models to India.
When Can You Get a Tesla?
Bookings for Tesla cars in India are expected to start soon after the showroom opens.
Deliveries will begin from late August 2025. The first cars will be imported from Tesla’s factory in China.
At first, only a limited number of cars will be available, and they will be sold as fully built imports.
How Much Will a Tesla Cost in India?
The Model Y is expected to cost around ₹48 lakh (about $58,000), including import duties and taxes. This is higher than the price in the US because of India’s high import taxes.
In the future, if Tesla starts making cars in India, prices could come down.
What Makes This Special?
Tesla’s entry is a big step for India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. It will bring more attention to clean, green cars and may encourage other companies to launch more EVs.
The Indian government hopes Tesla’s arrival will boost jobs and new technology in the country.
Tesla is also planning to build charging stations and service centers to help new customers.
What’s Next?
A second Tesla showroom is expected to open in New Delhi by the end of July 2025.
Tesla might start looking for places to build a factory in India, but for now, they are focusing on showrooms and sales.
