Swiggy Serves is here to change how we share food. The food delivery leader, Swiggy, has started a big program called Swiggy Serves. This program aims to fight hunger and reduce food waste in India. The goal is to give out 50 million meals by 2030. They want to take extra food from restaurants and share it with those who need it most.
Swiggy is working with the Robin Hood Army (RHA), a volunteer group. They will use the strong network and tech Swiggy has to make it easier to share food. RHA volunteers will pick up food from restaurants and bring it to people who need it. This way, no food is thrown away.
“Swiggy Serves is our way to help out by dealing with food waste and hunger,” said Rohit Kapoor, the head of Swiggy Food Marketplace.
How Swiggy Serves helps with meals
In its first test, Swiggy Serves gave out over 2,000 meals in 33 cities, with 126 restaurants taking part. Big names like Biryani by the Kilo, Charcoal Eats, and Samosa Singh were among the first to join this effort.
Restaurants can join in by signing up on the Swiggy Owner app. Once they sign up, they connect with RHA’s team for easy food sharing. This smart system makes it simple for all kinds of businesses to give away food they won’t use.
From Robin Hood Army, Neel Ghose is happy about working with Swiggy: “This work with Swiggy helps our goal to cut down on hunger. Together, we are making a strong effort to keep every plate full.”
A strong front against food waste
This effort is more than just giving out meals. It helps build a sense of caring in the community. With many still not having enough food in India, Swiggy Serves is a big step to deal with this issue.
By using tech, community work, and business support, Swiggy Serves hopes to make a real difference.
