In a strategic move to redefine newsroom operations in the age of artificial intelligence, Network18 has appointed veteran media professional Dr. Nalin Mehta as its Chief AI Officer (Editorial Operations).
Currently serving as the Managing Editor at Moneycontrol, Mehta will lead a company-wide transformation aimed at integrating AI across the editorial workflows of Network18’s vast portfolio. His mandate includes building AI-driven content solutions, ensuring ethical and responsible AI practices in journalism, and fostering collaboration between editorial, technology, product, and design teams.
A pivotal component of this transformation will be Network18’s proprietary AI tool, ‘Answers’, which Mehta will help customize and implement across the group’s brands. Training journalists to embed AI into daily editorial processes without compromising journalistic rigor, is set to be one of his key priorities.

He was well acquainted with Network18’s editorial culture from his previous position as Group Consulting Editor.
Beyond newsrooms, Mehta’s influence extends into academia and policy. He served as Dean and Professor at the School of Modern Media, UPES, and was an Associate Professor at Shiv Nadar University. He is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies (National University of Singapore) and a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.
