Mumbai Airport Records 4% Growth in Passenger Traffic in October 

According to Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL).Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) witnessed a 4% year-on-year rise in passenger traffic in October, reaching over 4.42 million travelers. The rush was due to increased travel demand during the festive season, which included major celebrations like Dussehra, Dhanteras, and Diwali.  

Domestic and International Traffic Rush

In October, CSMIA facilitated the travel of 3.16 million domestic passengers and over 1.25 million international passengers. “This festive season saw a huge traffic on both domestic and international flights among the travelers who were about to celebrate the festival of lights,” stated the private airport operator in its official release.  

Busiest Day in October 

October 26 emerged as the airport’s busiest day of the month, coinciding with the last Saturday before Diwali festivities. On this day, CSMIA recorded 939 air traffic movements (ATMs), including both arrivals and departures. The rise in ATMs was driven by an expanded range of travel options, offering greater connectivity for passengers.  

Impressive Monthly Air Traffic Movements  

The total air traffic movements for October stood at 19,848 domestic and 7,222 international flights. This significant volume underscores CSMIA’s status as a critical hub for both domestic and global air travel.  

Festive Season Boosts Travel Numbers

The festive period significantly influenced the increase in passenger traffic. In comparison, CSMIA handled 4.25 million passengers in October 2023. The year-on-year growth highlights the airport’s ability to manage high volumes during peak seasons, ensuring smooth operations and enhanced passenger experience.
