The Indian government launched a big plan called the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) on May 1, 2025. The aim is to help India make more electronic parts inside the country. This will reduce the need to import these parts from other countries and create more jobs for people.

The scheme offers financial support worth about ₹22,919 crore (around $2.7 billion) to companies that want to set up manufacturing units for electronic components like circuit boards, sensors, and other important parts. The government hopes to attract investments of about ₹59,350 crore and expects the production of electronic parts to reach ₹4,56,500 crore by 2032. Also, the scheme plans to create over 91,000 new jobs directly and many more indirectly.

Since its launch, the scheme has received a very good response. By July 2025, nearly 100 companies, including big names like Tata Electronics, Dixon Technologies, and Foxconn, had applied to join the scheme. Because of this strong interest, the government is thinking of extending the deadline for submitting applications beyond the original date of July 31, 2025. This extension will allow more companies to apply and help grow India’s electronics manufacturing industry even more.

The government will soon start approving projects between August and September 2025. They will also set up a management team to monitor and support the scheme’s progress.

This scheme is part of the government’s larger plan to make India more self-reliant in electronics and to become a bigger player in the global electronics market.
