Noida-based astrology platform Astrotalk has brought in Deepak Khetan as its new Chief Financial Officer, a move that signals the company’s preparation for a much-anticipated IPO in the next couple of years.
A Strong Finance Veteran Joins the Team
Khetan comes with an impressive background. A rank-holder Chartered Accountant, he has worked with well-known names such as GlobalBees, Edelweiss Financial Services, YES Bank, ICICI Bank, and Gulf Islamic Investment. Most recently, he was CFO at GLS Group India. His mix of financial strategy and compliance expertise is expected to help Astrotalk lay down the framework it needs for global expansion and public listing.
Astrotalk’s Journey So Far
In 2017, Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain founded Astrotalk. In India, it is among the most popular websites for astrological consultations. The company serves about 700,000 consumers and more than 20,000 astrologers each day. For both Indian and foreign users, it offers services at rates between ₹10 and ₹200 per minute.
Numbers That Tell the Story
The financial data provided by Astrotalk shows why investors are taking notice.
- Revenue in FY24 was ₹651 crore, more than twice as much as the year before.
- Net profit increased tenfold to 94 crore.
- The current yearly run-rate is around 1,600 crore rupees.
Elev8 Venture Partners invested $14 million in the company in 2024, valuing it at about ₹2,500 crore ($300 million).
Preparing for the Next Chapter
Co-founder Puneet Gupta has been clear that bringing in Khetan is about preparing for bigger challenges. Expanding into new markets and maintaining airtight compliance while managing complex finances requires seasoned leadership. Khetan, for his part, has said he’s eager to put in place systems that will sustain Astrotalk’s growth well into the future.
Astrotalk is targeting a significant share of its future revenue up to 40% from international markets, while also solidifying its dominance in India. With Khetan at the financial helm, the company looks well positioned to make the leap from a fast-growing startup to a publicly listed leader in the global astrology services market.
