In a significant move to advance technological growth, the Andhra Pradesh government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Google to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors. This collaboration aims to enhance healthcare services, support the local startup ecosystem, and provide skill development opportunities to citizens, bridging the digital divide in the state.
Driving AI adoption across key sectors
The partnership focuses on integrating AI into critical areas such as healthcare and governance, enabling the state to leverage cutting-edge technology for transformative growth. Google Cloud will provide specialized skilling programs, including certifications and skill badges in fields like cybersecurity, data analytics, and generative AI.
Additionally, Google plans to offer 10,000 certificates for its AI Essentials course, a foundational program that equips individuals with the knowledge to integrate AI into their daily workflows, improving productivity and efficiency.
Empowering startups and citizens
Google’s collaboration with Andhra Pradesh includes initiatives to fuel the local startup ecosystem, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in AI. Through this, the state aims to create an inclusive and sustainable digital economy where businesses can thrive.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “We are pleased to partner with Google to integrate AI solutions and accelerate Andhra Pradesh’s growth. The MoU also highlights the commitment to creating an AI-ready workforce through skill development programs. Google Cloud India’s Vice President and Country MD, Bikram Singh Bedi, emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership, saying, “This collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Government is another step in our commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable digital future for India. The MoU signing ceremony in Amaravati was attended by Nara Lokesh, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Andhra Pradesh, who remarked, “Together, we aim to create an inclusive and sustainable ecosystem where AI drives progress in critical sectors.”
