Blinkit expands services to Jammu

As part of Zomato’s strategy to expand its quick commerce footprint into Tier II cities, Blinkit has commenced operations in parts of Jammu.

Blinkit’s cofounder and CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, shared on LinkedIn that three stores are now operational in Jammu, delivering to surrounding areas. These stores are strategically located in Trikuta Nagar, Roop Nagar, and Akhnoor Road, serving more than 10 nearby localities.

The expansion into Jammu follows Blinkit’s recent launches in Kochi, ahead of the Onam festival, as well as in Bathinda, Haridwar, and Vijayawada. This growth reflects the company’s commitment to reaching new markets and enhancing its presence in Tier II cities.

This development coincides with the appointment of Vipin Kapooria, formerly Vice President for Business Finance at Flipkart, as Blinkit’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The company has also been actively introducing new features to maintain its edge in the competitive quick commerce sector.

Earlier this month, Blinkit launched ‘Bistro,’ a pilot app for quick food delivery. Currently operational in parts of Gurugram, Bistro delivers meals, snacks, and beverages such as tea and coffee within 15 minutes. Additionally, Blinkit is piloting a large order fleet in the Delhi NCR region to enable the delivery of bulkier items like geysers, air purifiers, and gaming consoles.

In October, Blinkit introduced the ‘Blinkit Seller Hub,’ allowing brands to list their products directly on the platform without intermediaries. This initiative aims to streamline operations for sellers and enhance the customer experience.

Financially, Blinkit recorded revenue of ₹1,156 crore in Q2 FY25, more than doubling from ₹505 crore in the same period last year. The company also significantly reduced its adjusted EBITDA loss to ₹8 crore from ₹125 crore in Q2 FY24.

Looking ahead, Blinkit aims to capitalise on India’s quick commerce boom by establishing 2,000 dark stores by the end of FY26. At the close of Q2 FY25, the company operated 791 dark stores nationwide, showcasing its rapid expansion and strategic planning for future growth.
