Taiwan’s tech giant ASUS aspires to be the largest personal computer brand in India after it targets 25-30 per cent market share in two years by aggressively expanding its retail presence. The Taiwanese tech behemoth has more than tripled its market share from 6.3 per cent in 2017 to 17.8 per cent in 2023, and the company has already established itself as the second-largest consumer notebook brand in the country.
We have increased three times in the last six years, and now we are confident in becoming the number one brand in two years,” says Arnold Su, vice president of Consumer & Gaming PC at ASUS India. Therefore, ASUS will expand its retail presence, not merely in tier 3 and tier 4 cities. “We will continue to aggressively expand our retail touchpoints to ensure that consumers can experience ASUS technology without needing to travel to metro cities,” Su added. Currently, ASUS is present across over 400 districts in India.
The company intends to increase the number of districts to 600 out of 750 districts in the next two years. This will be through exclusive ASUS stores and partnerships with channel partners. “In the next four years, we would hope to have at least one exclusive store in all 600 districts and subsequently talukas so that every Indian can access ASUS products,” said Su. Apart from that, ASUS has started six refurbished PC stores that are selected.
Therefore, it further increases its offerings in the market. Su hopes these strategies will enable ASUS to stay ahead and command a decent share of India’s consumer and gaming PC markets. The company is also looking at bringing out products in India at almost the same time as the global market, thus regaining its status as a preferential market for its operations.
