The second phase of the Ujjain Information Technology Park has been approved by the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC). To improve the city’s digital infrastructure, they want to invest ₹50 crore. By offering startups and technology companies top-notch, fully functional offices, this concept aims to encourage entrepreneurship.
₹50 Crore Sanctioned for Expansion
Phase II will be developed across 1.5 acres next to the existing IT Park area. The new phase will feature plug-and-play office spaces, incubation centres, and shared research hubs to support early-stage startups and growing tech firms. Officials confirmed that a developer has already been appointed to lead construction and development.
Strong Demand for IT Infrastructure
The decision to expand follows strong interest in Phase I of the park. More than 20 companies from Ujjain, Indore, and Bhopal have expressed intent to set up offices in the facility. MPIDC officials said the early demand has encouraged fast-tracking Phase II.
“Interest from companies has exceeded expectations. We are confident that the second phase will see similar traction, especially from IT and software-based firms,” an official said.
1,500 Jobs to Be Created
The expansion is expected to create about 500 direct jobs in IT and services. It will also lead to more than 1,000 indirect jobs in areas like maintenance, logistics, food services, and local transport. This supports the state’s plan to use tech parks as job centers in tier-2 cities.
Phase I Completion by 2026
The IT Park’s first phase, which will cover about 123,000 square feet, is now under construction. The completion date is set for December 2026. Co-working spaces, digital infrastructure, and spaces for startups and mid-sized IT companies will all be part of this phase.
A Push Toward Tech-Led Growth
The Madhya Pradesh government wants to extend modern technology facilities outside of Indore, and the Ujjain IT Park is a part of that plan. Similar parks will also be built by the government at Rewa, Gwalior, and other significant cities. Diversifying the state’s economy and boosting investment are the objectives.
Boost to Local Economy
Officials believe the expansion will positively impact Ujjain’s economy. It will support not just IT workers but also local vendors, cafés, hotels, and small transport services. The Ujjain IT Park is becoming an important part of the state’s effort to establish itself as a growing center for technology and innovation.
