Taylor Swift has unveiled a shorter, curly hairstyle while celebrating her fifth Official Chart Double in the United Kingdom, bringing back a look closely associated with her early country music career.

The singer’s latest appearance was revealed on October 2, 2026, in an Instagram collaboration between the Official Charts Company and Universal Music Group. The photograph marks a double celebration for Swift, whose single Patient Zero and extended album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore simultaneously reached No. 1 on the UK charts.

The chart achievement also comes with another distinction. The Official Charts Company confirmed that Swift is the only artist to have secured three UK No. 1 singles in 2026 so far.

While the musical milestone was the focus of the announcement, Swift’s noticeably shorter hair and return to soft curls added a nostalgic element to the occasion.

Taylor Swift’s New Curly Lob Revisits Her Early-Career Look

In this celebratory picture, Swift is seen with an adorable blonde lob, which has her famous fringe as well. It seems to be somewhat shorter than the one she had during the MTV Video Music Awards held on September 27.

She paired the new look with a deep maroon collared sweater, tailored khaki trousers and a slim black belt. Her familiar red lipstick and winged eyeliner completed the outfit.

The hairstyle continues a transformation that began in August, when Swift moved away from the longer blonde hair she had worn for some time and appeared publicly with a shoulder-length bob.

However, the curls make this latest appearance particularly reminiscent of her early years in music.

Long, blonde ringlets were a defining part of Swift’s image when she entered the country music industry. They featured prominently during the promotional eras of her first three studio albums, beginning with her self-titled debut in 2006.

Her relationship with her natural hair texture has also been a subject of conversation in the past.

During a 2019 interview with ELLE, Swift discussed how her naturally curly hair had gradually changed as she grew older.

“From birth, I had the curliest hair and now it is STRAIGHT,” she said, explaining that the transformation had happened just as she was learning to appreciate the curls she once wanted to straighten.

Her latest hairstyle revisits that familiar aesthetic, although the photograph alone does not establish whether the curls are natural or styled.

‘Patient Zero’ and ‘The Encore’ Deliver Another UK Chart Milestone

Swift’s hairstyle reveal accompanied a significant development in her recording career.

The Official Charts Company announced that Patient Zero had reached the top of the UK singles chart while The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore simultaneously led the albums chart.

The achievement represents Swift’s fifth Official Chart Double, a distinction awarded when an artist occupies the No. 1 positions on both charts during the same chart week.

The announcement also coincided with the first anniversary of The Life of a Showgirl.

Its expanded edition, subtitled The Encore, adds four tracks to the original album, including Patient Zero.

The Official Charts Company highlighted both accomplishments in its October 2 Instagram announcement, recognising Swift’s fifth chart double and her three UK No. 1 singles during 2026.

A New Hairstyle Follows Swift’s MTV VMAs Record

The latest photograph arrived just days after another notable career development.

At the September 27 MTV Video Music Awards, Swift became the ceremony’s most-awarded artist, taking her reported career total to 33 Moonman trophies and moving ahead of Beyoncé, with whom she had previously shared the record at 30 wins each.

Swift also received the inaugural Artist-Director award, recognising her contributions to music video direction and visual storytelling.

During her acceptance speech, she acknowledged the role her audience plays in encouraging her creative work.

“I got to tell you though, the main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you, the fans, make it so much fun,” she said.

Her latest appearance now brings together two recognisable elements of her public image: the short hairstyles she has revisited throughout her career and the curls that accompanied her earliest recordings.

The change comes at a time when Swift is marking achievements across both music sales and visual storytelling, with The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore providing the occasion for her latest look.
