Serayah has ended her engagement and relationship with Joey Bada$$, saying the decision followed a period of reflection and that protecting their young son’s peace and privacy will now guide how she handles the breakup publicly.

The 31-year-old actress announced the split on Instagram on Monday, a little over a year after the couple welcomed their first child together. In her statement, Serayah described reaching a point where choosing herself had become necessary and confirmed that she had decided to end both the engagement and the relationship.

“After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to end my engagement and relationship with the father of my child, Joey,” she wrote.

Serayah said she had believed deeply in the future they were building together and had wanted to protect their family. Her statement, however, also included a serious allegation about what she described as a recurring problem during the relationship.

The Kingdom Business star alleged that there had been “repeated infidelity throughout our relationship,” including during periods she described as among the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of her life.

The allegation is Serayah’s account of the relationship. The material available does not include a response from Joey Bada$$ to her claims.

Rather than dwelling on specific incidents, Serayah used much of her statement to explain why she had decided to speak at all. She said her intention was not to seek sympathy, retaliate or publicly tear anyone down. Instead, she addressed women who may find themselves questioning their own instincts inside a relationship.

“If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it,” she wrote.

She went on to urge women not to make themselves smaller for another person’s comfort or compromise their values out of fear of losing the future they had imagined. “Don’t allow someone else’s choices to become a referendum on your worth,” she added.

But the most deliberate boundary in Serayah’s announcement concerned the former couple’s son.

She made clear that she does not intend to turn the end of the relationship into an ongoing public account of what happened between them. Serayah said she respects the fact that she and Joey share a son and that her priority will be protecting “his peace, privacy and relationship with both of his parents.”

That distinction gives her announcement a different tone from a conventional celebrity breakup statement. Serayah disclosed enough to explain why she says the relationship ended, but at the same time drew a firm line around what she will discuss next.

“For that reason, I won’t be discussing the intimate details of our relationship publicly beyond what I have shared here,” she wrote.

Serayah and Joey Bada$$ began dating in 2023. They welcomed their son in June 2025 and announced their engagement the following month.

Their engagement has now ended a little more than a year after the birth of their child.

Despite the disappointment evident in her statement, Serayah ended on a forward-looking note rather than extending the accusations.

“This chapter did not end the way I prayed it would,” she wrote. “But endings can also be beginnings.”

For now, that appears to be where she intends to leave the public conversation: with the relationship over, her allegation stated, and a clear request that their son’s life and relationship with both parents remain outside the fallout.
