The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally entering its last stretch, with Rockstar Games set to launch the highly anticipated title on November 19, 2026. After multiple changes to its release schedule, the game now has a confirmed launch date, along with details about preloading, pricing, editions and the platforms that will support it.

For players planning to jump into Vice City and the wider Leonida setting on day one, there are several important details to keep in mind.

GTA 6 Release Date Is Set For November 19

Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will release on November 19, 2026.

The game was initially announced with a 2025 release window before a later date of May 26, 2026 was announced. That date was subsequently pushed back, with Rockstar eventually settling on November 19.

The November launch will bring GTA 6 to players after years of anticipation and a long stream of official reveals.

GTA 6 Preload Starts One Week Before Launch

Players will not have to wait until November 19 to begin downloading GTA 6.

Preloading will start on November 12, 2026, giving buyers a full week to get the game ready ahead of launch day.

The preload option will apply to digital pre-orders as well as the physical edition that comes with a download code. The latter will be made available before launch specifically so players can begin downloading the game.

However, there is one important catch. Preloading does not guarantee that the game will be completely ready without an additional update on release day. Whether a day-one patch will be required will only become clear when the game actually launches.

GTA 6 Will Start At $79.99

GTA 6 will be available at two main price points.

The standard versions will cost $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition will cost $99.99.

The $79.99 versions include both the regular digital edition and a physical version that essentially contains a download code rather than a traditional game disc.

Players who initially purchase either $79.99 version will also have the option to pay the additional $20 later to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition.

Three GTA 6 Editions Are Planned

Players will have three versions to choose from across the announced platforms.

The first is the physical edition with a code, followed by the standard digital edition. Both are priced at $79.99.

The third option is the $99.99 Ultimate Edition, which includes the content offered in the base game along with additional in-game content.

Pre-order bonuses are separate from the upgrade option and will only be available around the pre-launch period. They will not remain available after launch day.

GTA 6 Is Coming To PS5 And Xbox Series Consoles

At launch, GTA 6 has officially been announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That means players will need a PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X to play the game when it arrives on November 19.

A PC version has not been officially announced for the launch. The same applies to other platforms, meaning the currently confirmed launch platforms remain limited to Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation consoles.

No Multiplayer At Launch

Another important part of the launch picture is multiplayer.

Rockstar has said that its focus for GTA 6 has been on the single-player experience. No multiplayer mode has been announced for the game’s launch.

This means players should not expect a new GTA Online experience to be available when GTA 6 arrives on November 19.

For now, Rockstar’s launch focus remains on the game’s story and its single-player world.

No Microtransactions At Launch

GTA 6 will also launch without microtransactions or other forms of monetisation inside the game.

Apart from bonuses connected with pre-orders and the additional content included with the Ultimate Edition, players will not be asked to spend real money on in-game items at launch.

The same position also means there is no announced downloadable content launching alongside the game.

Two GTA 6 PS5 Controllers Will Launch Alongside The Game

Players looking for GTA 6-themed hardware will also have two limited-edition DualSense controllers to choose from.

Both controllers are priced at $85 and feature GTA 6-inspired details, including a “VI” design on the touchpad, palm trees on the grips and purple accents.

The two versions are distinguished primarily by their main colour, with one available in black and the other in white.

The controllers will be sold through the PlayStation online store. No GTA 6-branded Xbox controller has been announced so far.

What Players Need To Know Before November 19

For anyone preparing for launch, the key dates and details are straightforward. GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026, while preloading begins on November 12. The standard editions cost $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99.

The game is currently confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, with the launch centred on its single-player experience. While players can download the game a week early, Rockstar has not guaranteed that an additional launch-day update will not be required.

For now, November 19 remains the date that GTA fans have circled on their calendars.
