Garuda Aerospace, one of India’s most promising drone startups, has secured $1 million in fresh funding from Narotam Sekhsaria’s family office and other strategic investors. Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is funding this Chennai-based drone business with plans to grow, advance R&D, and go international.

Strategic Funding to Fuel Drone Innovation

A $1 million investment instills investor confidence in Garuda’s desire to lead the world in drone technology. The funds will be used mostly to improve autonomous flight systems, expand after-sales service, and develop the AI and machine learning capabilities of drones.

According to company sources, the fresh capital will also help Garuda scale production at its Chennai facility and cater to growing domestic and international demand.

A Legacy of Impactful Drone Deployment

Founded by Agnishwar Jayaprakash in 2015, Garuda Aerospace has played a critical role in transforming sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, defense, and disaster management. The company offers over 30 types of drones and has served high-profile clients, including the Indian Army, NTPC, and Adani.

Notably, Garuda gained recognition for deploying drones for sanitization during the COVID-19 pandemic and for its “Kisan Drones” initiative, which supports precision agriculture and crop spraying across rural India.

MS Dhoni’s Role as Brand Ambassador & Investor

Cricketer MS Dhoni has been a strong brand ambassador and equity investor in Garuda since 2022. His association has helped the company improve brand visibility, attract strategic partners, and build trust in rural markets where drones are still an emerging concept.

India’s Drone Sector Poised for Growth

India’s drone industry has been growing quickly, especially since the government changed the rules in 2021. The market is expected to be worth $1.8 billion by 2026, thanks to government support, increased use in agriculture and logistics, and more applications in defense.

Garuda Aerospace aims to lead this change by focusing on local manufacturing and research-driven solutions.

A Lift-Off Moment for Garuda

With this new funding from Narotam Sekhsaria’s family office and continued support from MS Dhoni, Garuda Aerospace is gearing up for its next phase of growth. As India builds its domestic drone capabilities, startups like Garuda are not only creating economic value but also solving real-world problems through technology.
